She's exceptionally credible. I honestly half expected someone who was part of a #MeToo witch hunt who was politically motivated - she couldn't be further from that label.

Politically, I think if they just threw softballs, expressed sympathy but cited no way of proving allegations beyond an FBI investigation, it would have put the onus on Trump and made this whole thing today completely pointless.
Instead, they've treated Ford like a hostile enemy. A credible attempted rape victim being treated as an enemy by the GOP. On national television.

Tbf I think that “don’t talk during break” should apply to all senators.
It might be a workable strategy to get the R base out to keep the Senate. I don't think they would be able to pull off a confirmation vote for another nominee before the elections, so the message to the base would be "we need you to vote to make this happen - if you don't vote, then we can't vote"

Seen this “she is lying about the flying so is lying about everything else” line a lot on twitter.
Many people have a fear of flying but do it anyway - they just find it a lot easier to do if they are not already stessed (like from having death threats) and have something to look forward to like a vacation/seeing family rather than something they dread (like going on national tv to describe a sexual assault).
Is Hirono running for a higher office? Or just getting in her jabs?
