It’s pretty easy to just roll your eyes at the relief bill and say it’s not enough, because for a lot of people it isn’t, but at least it’s something. Also, this is truly the first time in YEARS that I can remember the Congress functioning somewhat as it was intended. Both sides got some of what they wanted and gave some things up as well. Actual compromise, imagine that.

Most notably, I’m glad that Democrats stuck to their guns and didn’t allow lawsuit protections for reckless business owners to get attached to this one.

I’m sure there are plenty of businesses that are prioritizing money over people’s safety, but there is one high profile company here in TN that is being especially irresponsible. If you’ve never heard of Dave Ramsey, do a little reading about him. His company has refused to allow its 500+ employees to work remotely, even though they have gone on record saying it was possible for them to do so, but they refuse to let fear dictate their decisions. Also, they hosted an indoor holiday party last weekend with upwards of 1000 maskless people in attendance, and actually required the catering staff to remove their masks because they said seeing people wearing them was making the guests uncomfortable. Organizations like that don’t need protection from being sued.

Dead easy yeah.

That is utterly abhorent

Absolutely. Their whole brand is being a Christian organization, but abhorrent behavior is nothing new to them. This past summer he *allegedly* fired a pregnant woman for violating the company’s “righteous living policy” because she wasn’t married to the child’s father. Her lawsuit is still pending, and he may not have technically violated any state laws, as TN is a Right to Work state, but suffice it to say I’m fairly confident that’s not the way Jesus would have played that hand.

do you know anything about him LL. What's he like?
He's most well known for the plastic bag ban in this state. He pushed it hard despite objections from his own party.

He was very vocal and contributed to making sure mail in ballots were allowed and used here even before COVID-19.

He has had some controversy largely over a contract with a marketing company to inform California's how to vote. Most shrug there shoulders but some in the party and on the right objected to it for very different reasons. Those in the party said the $35m should have been used as intended for projects and what not in the cities it was initially designated for and not a marketing campaign. The rights objection was purely based on the fact the company hired was well known to Biden.

I think he is a good choice. I'm sure Jay will be along to tell me he is not and he's a tory Democrat haha!

This isn;t a hit on anyone spitefully but I recall seeing someone saying "this is how politics is meant to be: comprimise".

There is now legal wording inside of this that makes it a felnoy to stream anything, including a Premier League match

There is now legal wording inside of this that says that ONLY China can claim the next "Dalai Lama".

How is ANY of this meant to be associated with a COVID relief bill?

It was me who who mentioned compromise, and I’m going to stand by that statement in the overall sense simply because I can’t remember the last time we actually saw any version of compromise in Congress. There was give and take from both sides and at least some people are going to get some badly needed help. But I’m not going to attempt to defend some of the money that was doled out to foreign countries or some of the stuff you mentioned. It’s dumb and there was no reason for any of that to even be on the table right now.

It wasn't meant to be anything ill towards you. Just how it went from EXTREME right to PRETTY FN FAR right and "that's compromise". 500m to Isreal? 2.2b for tomohawk missiles? anohter couple billion to the F35 BS that has never gone anywhere?
