@steveojcc Does he have a chance of losing? Or will he still win?

They are suggesting he would probably win.

Republicans in that district have for a long time carried a healthy margin in the voting. Hunter especially when he switched districts.

So i reckon he would probably still win but maybe not as big a margin. The experts think so too.

Especially now trump and his ilk have attacked minorities. One of the biggest cities Escondido although has mainly been conservative that was down to the latin americans not voting. Now they reckon they may change that. Escondido used to be 80% caucasian now its swapped the population is now dominant at about 60 to 70 %

But the majority of the other cities and parts of that district are inland and primarily rural.

You’d hope that details such as these would make an impact in a Navy area like San Diego but guess we’ll see.

3. When Hunter told his wife he needed to “buy my Hawaii shorts,” but he was out of money, she allegedly told him to buy them from a golf pro shop so he could claim they were actually golf balls for wounded warriors.
7. In an attempt to justify spending campaign funds on a family trip to Italy, Hunter asked a naval base there for a tour. When officials said they couldn’t do it then, Hunter said, “Tell the Navy to go f--- themselves.”

If there's anything a lot of these cannot stand its this sort of stuff. Two friends of mine work with the wounded warriors foundation and another veterans association and i know they will be pissed to read this.

Not sure if they would change party or politics but they sure wont like Hunter haha!!

what's the story now? He's pleaded 'not guilty'. So I presume there'll be a fairly straightforward trial, given the evidence.
Is that trial likely to happen before the midterms?

Guessing it won't happen before midterms in November - it's late August now, Duncan can easily burn up 3 months in pre-trial motions re discovery, venue, procedure, validity of charges, change of judge, et.....

I would have a really hard time staying friends with any of my conservative friends who live in his districts if i found out they voted for him. Whatever about Trump this guy is plain and simple a crook. Its bad enough he was well known for being shady before this dropped but now its clear he broke the law.

Did you see read the 47 page indictment some of the stuff he purchased and did are outrageous. @LinekersLegs pointed out a lot of it. it's mental stuff.

His excuses are ridiculous and he claims its all one conspiracy by the democrats now. Idiot...

if he wins it says a lot about the areas that have the ability to vote for him.

This is the world we live in where the GOP stay silent when one of their own breaks the law and then some of them shout conspiracy as they lie.

Apparently all a political witch hunt - by a Trump appointed attorney! Throwing his wife under the bus seems a very unwise move given his night at Liaison Hotel with individual 14...she already has a separate attorney.

And whilst the cost of living is expensive he does get a salary of $174k a year - perhaps if that is not sufficient for his lifestyle he should get better paying job or run for office in another state that isn’t a handme down from his father...

Embattled Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) appeared on Fox News Thursday night and denied all wrongdoing over charges that he misspent a quarter of a million dollars of campaign money on personal expenses such as a vacation to Italy, dental work and flying the family’s pet bunny across the country. In the interview, the Republican from conservative eastern San Diego County, who was gifted his seat in Congress by his father, defended himself from all accusations.
Asked point-blank if he was guilty, Hunter denied any and all wrongdoing. “No, in fact, the events you were mentioning there were fundraisers,” he said. “That’s how people get to hear me and hear what I have to say.”

Hunter attacked the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California, Adam Braverman, who is prosecuting him and complained that he doesn’t have time to fight the charges before his election.
“This is a late hit,” he said.

Hunter did admit to saying “[Poor language removed] the Navy” after he was unable to arrange a base tour that was allegedly to be used as a cover story for his family’s vacation to Italy.

Hunter blamed his wife for anything amiss.

“When I went to Iraq in 2003, the first time, I gave her power of attorney and she handled my finances throughout my whole military career and she continued that when I got to Congress,” he said. “Whatever she did, that will be looked at too, I’m sure. But I didn’t do it. I didn’t spend any money illegally. I didn’t use campaign money, especially for Wounded Warriors, there’s no way.”

Hunter then attacked his “socialist Democrat opponent” and complained of the cost of living in Southern California when asked if his salary was sufficient. “It’s difficult to live in a place like San Francisco or San Diego or New York or D.C,” he said. “It’s probably easier to live in a place like Kansas or Missouri.”

Crazy isn't it. Whats mad how he thinks he will get away with it considering their personal bank account for the period investigated never had more that $50 in it at anyone time and yet they were taking lavish vacations and spending fortunes as you and the indictment document mentioned.

We all knew it was coming, but it still hits hard. I didn't agree with a lot of his political positions, but always believed him to be an honorable man with the best interests of the country at the forefront.

Like you I disagreed with a lot of his policy positions but he is a true patriot - not many of his ilk left in the Senate unfortunately, he’ll be missed.

Pretty much how I’ll remember him
