Exactly there are not enough stipulations in the current bill on the 250 going to the businesses. Giving them essentially the right to do whatever they want with the handout.

Which would lead to them doing what you brought up.

Also apparently some of the companies looking for aid are billion dollar companies and there is concern they will get a handout before companies that actually need it.

As always a bill that they put forward is vague and without proper rules.

Also I read that there was a piece in there that said a company didn't have to report what they received up to 6 month in secrecy.

So 1/4th is going to taxpayers is just not good enough.

Time to compromise Republicans.
1200$ to every tax payer plus unemployment? I think thats a fair trade for this next month. Another like 300-500B to small businesses. Back during the big recession it was okay to bailout businesses but this isnt good enough?

I think what people are saying is maybe we should take a few lessons from 2008 so that we can maximize the amount of good stimulus does. Allowing a huge corporation to take bailout money and reward their millionaire CEO with another huge bonus while Average Joe worker falls hopelessly behind on his mortgage is just flat wrong.

I understand. Atleast this bill has money going into the American peoples pocket plus a increase on medical care, unemployment benefits etc. This could go on for weeks and then what? Those people who really need the money are royally screwed. 1200$ for tax payers plus 500$ per kid is more than those people who would qualify would make in 2 months. It just makes sense to pass this and not delay it for weeks.

Agree with you on basically every point. If they're still gridlocked a week from now, there's real reason to complain. As of right now, it's been held up for part of one day while the senate works on a compromise.

Well if they plan on getting 60 people to agree then compromise is necessary.

Would be amazing if they did reach a compromise and Trump vetoes it.
Jesus, I didn't even think of that. If they could get to 60, they'd only be 7 short of being able to override him.

Im not polititian but would it be possible for the Senate to vote on what would be considered "Essential"? The American people, hospitals, and small businesses. I would throw the Midwest farmers in that category too!

I don’t live in a highly agricultural part or the country, but I’d imagine farming might be one industry that is mercifully being spared from this shutdown. They’re basically essential, so won’t be beholden to any lockdown, and by its very nature farm work has built in social distancing, so I imagine they’ve been able to continue with business as usual so far.
