I live about 10 mins from his home congressional office, tempted to drive over and set it on fire.
Please don't, because it'll take me at least 15 minutes to get there and I feel that storming a burning office with firehoses would send the wrong message.

We so desperately need complete lockdown and extreme isolation policies if this is to be contained. But that won't happen due to weak/spineless federal governing and this lingering disbelief that somehow this won't affect 'merica, because we're 'mericans. The USA is so screwed.
One small saving grace is that, compared to the UK and Europe, there is some level of social distancing built into American life outside the biggest cities simply because we have more space. That said, you’re still probably right as far as containing the virus goes. However, at what point can we continue to risk our entire future to mitigate the risk of a virus whose lethal effects are largely felt by a minority group of the population but whose age and/or health issues put them at highly increased risk? A complete shutdown/lockdown of this country, even for a month or two, will inevitably lead to millions of people losing their homes and tens of thousands of small businesses going under. That’s kind of a sad commentary on how many people are living hand to mouth, but it is reality nevertheless.

I know this sentiment seems incredibly callous, but as someone who is only 35, it’s hard to stomach the though of taking short term actions which might do damage to the national or world economy from which we might not recover from in my lifetime, if ever. All to save the lives of people who in the grand scheme aren’t likely to be around long enough to have to bear the economic catastrophe that those decisions will inevitably bring about.

Please don’t read this post as me taking a position of “**** all these weaklings, all I care about is me”. It just seems that as this crisis deepens, there’s a real chance the world may have to do some intense soul searching about what our priorities are and the make some INCREDIBLY difficult decisions.
