TBF if Abelard was making the point that if the GOP is seen to clean up the more egregious corruptions of the modern state then it will crush the Democrats then yes, that is probably correct. If Trump had backed his earlier stance on single-payer healthcare they (the Dems) would be crushed now.
They've been given the chance to govern for about 25 of the last 35 years and shown no interest in it. There's no revolution going in to suddenly try to help the average citizen. The Republican party exists to help out their mega wealthy donors whilst making their base lol like idiots for believing anything they say.
Ie: "the tax cuts will be like nitro for the economy" even tho a) the economy is faltering and b) the average person is going to have a big increase in about 2 years.
