It doesn't have to be one or the other.
If going on strike means that they can provide better care for everyone then they should do so.Anyway, it's a sterile (excuse the pun) argument. My view is simply that medical people should not go on strike as it demeans everything they are supposed to stand for...........
Do you not stand for workers rights?Anyway, it's a sterile (excuse the pun) argument. My view is simply that medical people should not go on strike as it demeans everything they are supposed to stand for...........
Do you not stand for workers rights?
If going on strike means that they can provide better care for everyone then they should do so.
They are doing so because this is what they believe is true, that the cutting of junior doctor rights will degrade the quality of medical care.
You clearly do not understand this
The military can't strike, can they?Yes I do. However I don't believe either the medical or military professions should strike.......
The military can't strike, can they?
Actually Pete I have...And you clearly have not read this thread........
Actually Pete I have...
If the services are still being provided what is the issue with a strike?
How do you protest the infringements on your rights and what you believe will impair health care then?OK, so it's fine for a one day strike, yeah. What about a two day strike, what about a one week strike, what about a one month strike......at what point does it become unacceptable. So what you're saying is a strike is fine if it has no effect. My point being, if that is the case why do it, and if you are not willing to stay out then strike action is the wrong form of protest........
How do you protest the infringements on your rights and what you believe will impair health care then?
The impetus for the decision is from the government and so the junior doctors are merely providing an impetus for the government to change their decision.
This is a time proven successful way of achieving change.
In New Zealand we saw last year a strike within our health system from the nurses that was collectively supported across the entirety of the professional health team.
There wasn't any issues with provision of services...
ok mate. The government have tried to negotiate but then decided to implement the changes. The Health Minister is an idiot but then again most are. The BMA and the Doctors believe that by striking that the public will get behind them. The problem is that what the Health Minister wants, also happens to be what the patients want, 24/7 healthcare. The Doctors going on strike will appear as self serving and not designed to help the public, right or wrong. It will also cause major problems to patients and absolutely none for the government. The strike strategy is morally reprehensible in my opinion and also monumentally stupid. The Doctors will lose and patients will lose, the government will save money...........
Nope! But they can have leave cancelled to cover strikes by other public servants. The military can't strike, can they?
