Personally I don't even see this as a 'trans' issue, it's an issue that trans people have unfortunately been dragged into thanks to the actions of perverts 'using gender' as a means of entering womens spaces unchallenged.

Allowing men, regardless of how they identify into womens spaces opens the door for an abuser to enter.

Wouldn’t the threat be greater if a man transitioning to become a woman was forced to you use men only spaces ? Would that not put that person at greater risk ? I don’t know the answer and don’t pretend to, all I know is I believe in live and let live… unless you’re a trump, farage or Johnson fan

The bathroom argument is a bit reductive to be honest but there are actual issues that still seem to be entangled in a grey area.

I'm thinking female refuges and places of safety for one thing.

Female sexual violence support groups etc.

People do have genuine concerns that need to be heard and solutions found.

Everyone who has concerns aren't bigots and the shaming of those asking questions is not helpful in the slightest.

Reminds me of everyone calling brexit leavers racists instead of actually listening to them and presenting a counter argument.

I don't think I'll ever forgive the remain campaign for that and I see echoes of it everywhere.

The inability to consider nuance and validity of both sides of a discussion is a stain on current society.

But because media or influential individuals like Musk and Rowling keep latching on to this as an issue. It means it is an issue, but not in the way you think. Plenty in America, there's the famous case of the trans identifying student attacking girls at one school, being moved on the quiet to another and doing it again - another famous one in Loudoun Co. where the parents are suing the school board for $30m after a student was raped in a bathroom, multiple instances of rapes in prisons by transwomen on other inmates, including pregnancies.

If you do a little digging it's a lot more prevalent than the media would have you believe.

I tried to find examples of multiple rapes in prisons by transwomen but there isn't a huge amount of instances that I can see. But if you can share some examples/studies I'll will be happy to read them. Well not happy as it will be depressing but you know what I mean.
