Better still, why didn't the Night King throw his first javelin at Drogon? Easier target (biggest dragon, closer, on the deck at the time) and it would mean Jon, Dany and co would be stranded on the ground. Either the other dragons would then have to land, making them easier targets, or they would have to abandon Jon, Dany and the merry men to be overwhelmed by the Night King's army.
It was a trap. The Night King wanted 3 dragons.

And the reason for not going for Drogon first? Easy. He wanted as many dragons as possible. If he goes for Drogon first, he risks Visersion and Rhaegal fleeing. By taking out one of the flying dragons first, he can then change focus and attempt a shot at the easy target, potentially getting two.

Going for stationary target only gets 1 dragon.
Going for the moving target means getting 1 dragon, possibly 2.

Is this really worth committing to? Everyone in work constantly goes on about it, but I just don't think it'll be as good as everyone says.

I only want to commit if it matches up to The Sopranos.

Up till season 6 it is fantastic. Past that you will probably feel loyal to the show and finish it. Still entertaining regardless, but not as good as the first 5 seasons.

I say go for it.

I didn't enjoy the Sopranos, so I can't compare there. But it is pretty darn good

I am not blaming D&B for that at all. They are tasked with finishing a story so complicated that even the actual author has failed to finish it.

I do believe that when the show was first pitched, the next book was supposed to have been completed by the time the show caught it up.

So some people are getting loud over the eyes of Jon's sword wolf pommel. Apparently it's eyes opened...

That is just light refraction in the gem mounted in the eye.

There is a ton of stuff on 'Bran is the Night King' Here is an interesting comparison someone on reddit made:

Further to that, here is a bit from the episode director:

Taylor: That is so funny, somebody else mentioned that to me and I haven't got a clue what they're talking about. So either this sword is magic and it's doing stuff on its own or something happened. I'm going to have to go back and watch that moment close up and in slow motion to see what's going on there. I can say that there was no intention for that to be the case."

Interesting theory. But how did the Night King know Jon and the others were coming in the first place? How does he know of the existence of Dany and the dragons? How does he know Dany and Jon have started working together, and by extension that there was any possibility that Dany might head north with the Dragons if Jon was in trouble?

IF he somehow knew all this, then he would surely also conclude that Viserion and Rhaegal would not leave Dany stranded on the ground, therefore Drogon would be the better first shot. Better still, why can't the other White Walkers throw a javelin or two? One of the others could have slotted Drogon at the same time Viserion got skewered.

It's like no-one north of the wall has ever watched Black Hawk Down.

Folks on Reddit reckon he might also be a Greenseer, like Bran. So he can see what is happening now, and all that has happened in the past. He just can't see the future.

But I dunno......all I know is we will probably see him riding Viserion either in the next episode or the first episode of S08

Also, if we're gonna be pedantic about the story line, they could of just said to Dany to flame that group of whitewalkers- it'd be game over then.
