Eh? Berric is alive......it was Thoros of Myr who died. Along with the 'redshirts' (Thoros had a red cloak, like)

Unless I have missed something, he was there on the back of Drogon as he flew off

I knew i wasn't going in sane! I thought someone in here wrote that "when he died", jon was fighting someone on that rock and they fell into a swarm of undead, was that just one of the undead he was fighting?

so two normal dragons vs. one psycho undead dragon (and i'm not referring to cersei)....lets see who comes out on top

so is this new dragon going to breathe ice instead of fire? Also, when he comes up against the other two dragons, one (probably the one that isn't her favourite) will get killed/turned into another white dragon as he won't know that his brother is against them, so i can see a 2-1 flip.

Nah, honestly think Drogon and Rhaegal will survive and Viserion will be killed a second time. Dany will obvs be riding Drogon, and Jon will be riding the dragon named for his father.

How much of an input does Martin the author have into this series? Any? Or have HBO just decided to do what they want with the story now they have overtaken the author?

I didn't really like the episode.
It was just far too coincidental and plot convenient for my liking.
e.g.:
Army of the dead completely able to form ranks, use swords, follow orders, use intelligence, pull the dead dragon out of the water with chains but not a single one of them can wield a bow and arrow. Nah, they cant do that because then they'd be able to shoot and john and co on their little island getaway.
e.g. 2: "I'm a magical ice zombie king, here I have my magical ice zombie spear and I will use my incredible magic ice zombie strength to throw this ice spear so hard and fast at that dragon flying around to hit it first time and take it out with one shot. Could have thrown them at those guys when they were on their island but idk didnt feel like it."
e.g. 3:"i was taking a little ride along the snowy hills and i stumbled upon my nephew as thousands of dead things run at him, I'll ride over and make it just in time to put him on the horse and die in his place. yeah, sound plan."

This is what happens when TV producers start writing scripts, rather than authors. I get why people are saying these are exciting episodes, but they are becoming very Hollywood predictable for me.

Oh and
Oh great, forgot you had a burning sword until you needed to burn that corpse, did you? Been sat on this island on a frozen lake all night freezing our buts off, and NOW you remember you have a flaming sword that could've kept us all warm?

Better still, why didn't the Night King throw his first javelin at Drogon? Easier target (biggest dragon, closer, on the deck at the time) and it would mean Jon, Dany and co would be stranded on the ground. Either the other dragons would then have to land, making them easier targets, or they would have to abandon Jon, Dany and the merry men to be overwhelmed by the Night King's army.
