weird that the show is gonna 'spoil' the books now, be interesting to see how the hodor scenes are written

Whats a bit annoying is people comparing the books and series and mentioning chracters that arent in the series.

At the same time though i understand why people do it

That was a great episode wasn't it? Although I'm not too happy about the Greyjoy storyline (how long does it take one to sail from Pyke to Meereen?) the last 10 minutes made up for it.
That scene is at least a season overdue. At least it broadly resembled the plot arc in the book, and the chap playing Euron seems quite good.

The show has criminally neglected the Greyjoy / Iron islands plots thus far and sadly I suspect they've only resurrected them for the purpose of moving Danaerys' plot line along.

The show has gone WAAAAAY off the reservation mate. Whilst the Hodor scene was clearly influenced, if not written, by GRRM most of the rest of what's happened from early season 5 until now has drifted further and faster away from he books than I imagined possible.

think its good they can be looked at as almost 2 different entities...

Yep, that's the way I look at it too. What I mean is the show isn't really going to spoil the books, because the show has simply ignored too many story arcs entirely to be ABLE to spoil the books.

It's going to spoil it in as much as the end result will be the same, just the journey there will be different.

BECAUSE EVERYONE BLOODY TELEPORTS

Surely he should have gone to the future and brought back some futuristic soldiers or something.

Am I the only one who enjoys they show? instead of sitting there sweating, clutching all the books and screaming at all the times the show deviates off-page?

It's only telly, lads...
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show immensely. I just think that they suddenly ramped up the pace at the start of season four, massively truncated some story arcs and just cut out some others completely, and none of it has served a purpose. It's also meant that the quality of the writing has suffered somewhat.

The show should have tried to stay as faithful to the books as possible IMHO - it would have been better for it. They could have increased each season to twelve or even fourteen episodes if necessary. I just don't understand why they felt the need to get ahead of the books as soon as possible.
