Kit Harrington had an interview to say he's not coming back for the next series. Never thought he would be kept dead, but who knows?
Wouldn't read too much into that. He could well be coming back but have been told to keep quiet about it. Or he might come back in series 7. Or he might be dead.

If I had to put money on it though I would put it on him coming back at some point.

There's no point in getting invested in a story and its characters when they're all just going to get killed off for effect.

Don't see how you can blame the script writers either. The most annoying part of this show is that so many of the good characters die, and that's down to the source material.
All of the deaths have had a purpose in the books though bar Jon, who probably isn't even dead (the most recent book ended as this episode did).

What a god awful last scene, get the worst actor in the entire show whose been annoying **** out of me all season to kill Jon snow.

Genius.

While I enjoy Rothfuss, not only is he not exactly prolific, but his books, intentionally, include barest amount of embellishment and aren't exactly watertight.

Martin may not be a Rothfuss, but neither of them are a Brandon Sanderson.

Rothfuss is not prolific, but NOTW and AWMF are about as water tight as anything I've read and are far better written than Stormlight Archive although I'm a fan of Sanderson too. Rothfiss knows how to drop hints and red herrings in equal measure in order to leave things open for the imagination.

My biggest criticism of Rothfuss is he can be formulaic.

Haven't watched the TV series but In the books this is where we're up to with Jon's timeline... strong feeling by lots of us Melisandre is going to breath him back to life like Beric Dondarrion/Lady Stoneheart.

Also apparently Sansa is with Reek and not Jeyne Poole who is fake Arya????

I watched all series in the time since Series 5 started.

Series 1-4 were much, much better than series 5 IMO.

Yeh this is definitely the weakest season, though the last three episodes were probably up their with the shows most 'heart-stopping'. I haven't read the books, and won't do until the series is finished - it's hard enough following one confusing storyline never mind two!

But from what I've heard, this season was the first to drift away from the books more frequently - with some things that happened in this season not happening in the books at all? A bit disappointed their was so much time spent in the East with Danerys (sp?) - where nothing actually happened until episode 4 or 5, as I'd have thought Brann's story north of the wall would have been picked up again.

I kind of hope the books/series keep Jon dead, though I can see him coming back.

yeah jeyne poole isn't in the show so sansa took her spot marrying ramsey and the subsquent leap

Any chance people can not mention the books in the got 'television series' thread.

After that last episode though I'm going to start reading ahead. Read up to feast for crows.

Read ahead to what? Pretty much caught up to events. The season ended on the same event the last book did.
