The good thing about books and TV shows is that you can stop reading/watching if you don't like it.

I seriously might, there's very few characters left that whom I actually care about what will happen to them. When you kill off characters it should be to only increase the audiences' interest, not annoy them. As Del said, it feels like they're just trying to hard now.

I stopped watching Dexter and The Mentalist. Sometimes shows just go bad. I'm still enjoying game of thrones though.

Spend ages building up characters that have good story lines and keep you coming back to then kill them one by one leaving dross that nobody gives two sh1ts about

Red wedding was well done and shocked everyone, now it's like there trying to replicate that moment every series, its like they feel the need to do it now to pander to the masses who want constant battles/deaths/shocks each episode

Can see next season dying on its arse

Jon getting whacked was in the book though. I think the decline has been far more to do with GRRM's writing then it has to do with the showrunners. They've tried to hammer the complicated part of an already complicated story into something that's actually watchable. It's not easy.

I know it was, but they haven't stayed true to the books anyway

If stannis is dead, what was the point in the last 2/3 series building the character up to have him dropped by some whopper

Aye, that was pretty anti-climactic. They spent their budget in Episode 8 though, so I think the fact they visibly cut so many corners with regards to that battle made Stannis' death a non-event.

The whole Stannis story has been handled so bad.

*poorly.

There's no point in getting invested in a story and its characters when they're all just going to get killed off for effect.

Don't see how you can blame the script writers either. The most annoying part of this show is that so many of the good characters die, and that's down to the source material.

Unfortunately this

The Wire killed off big characters but I always felt it wasn't a cheap death and added to the plot

Last night's episode was a mess
