Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has warned book readers they may not be too happy with some of the deaths coming in Season 5 of the TV adaptation.

Speaking to Showbiz411 at the Writers Guild West Awards this weekend, Martin explained show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have decided to kill off several characters who (at the time of writing) remain unmaimed in the source material.

“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," he said. "Everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am.”

Martin also suggested the original plan for seven seasons of the popular HBO show may be slightly flexible after all, as he didn't seem to rule out the possibility of it continuing some way into the future.

"Not really certain yet," he said when asked how many seasons we should expect. "This is the fifth season, the sixth season HBO picked up last year. We will have a 7th, 8th or 9th, no one knows. They only renew one or two seasons at a time. After we do season 6, maybe we’ll get a renewal for 7th and 8th. That all depends, Television is a very changeable medium."

I have been reading the books and have rewatched the series after each one. I have recently finished book two and now watching series 2.

My god they are butchering the story arent they? There is a lot different for understandable 10 episodes reasons but even the shadowbaby bit makes no sense.

In the book Stannis has 2 shadow babies. One to kill Renly and one to kill the guy at storms end to gain him access. One he just lets fly and the other Davos takes missandre underneath the castle. in the episodes davos takes messandra under the castle to kill reny, except that makes no sense, renly is in a tent and therefore there is no point in being under a castle!

I am disapointed by details removed as well. Tyrion loses most of his nose is understandably absent, but when you meet biter he is meant to have no nose and instead looks fine.

And the changes to the story to dramatise it seems fine for the show but glaringly different for the book. When araya gets to harrenhall for example is different.

its spelt dragon mate, guess you don't have to do English in primary schools these days...sheesh

chortle, sorry

doesn't give anything away really that trailer..
Well if you listen to the great houses that Dany lists, one's missing, so there's a hint at something..
