Think the only way this show can really end with all the loose ends tied up is for the Night King to win. That way the moral of the series will be that greed, family feuds and lust for power ultimately only ends in tragedy. If they prevail then there will be people who will forever more complain about who was killed off and who wasn't, "happy" endings never please everyone.

As long as it's not a Sopranos-esque cliffhanger (though I wouldn't rule that out because we know Martin and HBO have form for trolling fans).

I don't think she has lacked that at all. She saw her dad beheaded, was essentially an angry vengeful teen who did what she had to unfortunately do to survive. I don't think the character has lacked humanness at all. The role imo has been one of the more well done ones all series.
 
It sounds like they are trying to bring all the new fans into the mix which always ruins the quality of any show/movie/etc. cough cough (The Force Awakens). Why any fan would start with season 8 is beyond me anyways. The logic isn’t there, but I guess it makes money :(

....I thought it set things up nicely, the calm before the storm.

Anyway, I reckon the lady with the dragons is pregnant to that bloke from the North. He will probably perish, but the battle will be won. The kingdoms will be united when the lady with the dragon says her child will take the throne.
 
Has anyone got a list of who they think will die.
I think Jon/aegon, jorah, greyworm, the ginger guy and merrick will go. Think the hound has served his purpose. Think the lannisters will turn up to take out the living and then tirion will convince them to fight alongside them... Then one of them will kill him.

Benjin stark will appear as a white at some point.

.....the lady with the ships might turn up and save the game in extra time, like a Deulofeu substitution.
 
Think we’re underplaying Jamie’s significance. When the dust settles from the battle does the Kingslayer also add Queenslayer to his titles? One of very few who could get close enough in a 1 on 1 scenario to kill Cersei
 
Gosh that was painful to watch. It's officially a soup opera. They ruined a great show. We will never have first 4 seasons like episodes. I am now watching out of sheer curiosity, not for enjoyment.

yeah, i think arya's many faces will still have one more role to play. Has she actually killed anyone on her list yet? Maybe walder frey was on it. I've wondered whether she could kill a white walker and steal one of their faces and then kill the king.
 
Cersei will/has joined up with the white walkers or claimed neutrality a la Switzerland.
It is fantasy after all.
Or a plausible ending could be a bit like the film the butterfly effect.
