Game Of Thrones: Season 8

Have the writers been changed for this season? Something feels off. It’s understandable they want to build tension before the battles ahead and characters get to spend a potential last night with each other, it’s been handled poorly imo. The dialogue, the interactions, feels unsatisfying and everything is moving at a frantic pace. Feels as though they should of waited for George Martin to finish his work before pressing ahead. Episode 2 was underwhelming IMO.

Am I the only one who cringed at the Arya-gendry scene. They can be in love or whatever and not have it like that. I know it was mild by game of throne standards but this girl grew up around all of them and now they're like show me dat ass and dem titties. And gendry to do the scene, that guy must be a savage.

First episode was the reunion, second episode the setup, now we have 4 80 minute episodes of nonstop goodness to look forward to... i hope.

Not a great episode really but served its purpose much like the first one, the 'comedy' scene with Tormund was pretty painful viewing.

We now know Tormund invented all stereotypical jocks.

Was okay. Good to see the better actors get more screen time, particularly Jaime and Tyrion. Have to say, as an actor, Gwendoline Christie has come on a ton, she's effing great now.
Still slow, and some of the resolutions felt rushed, particularly Jaime's easy letoff.

Pumped for the next episode, all evidence suggests it's going to be a stormer

Definitely filler episode and considering there are only 6 to end it, beggars belief really

Fairly certain Eppy 3 will largely be the battle, leaving 3 to tie it all up

When you say “filler”, could it be argued that this is the type of episode that everyone felt was lacking from season 7? The type where characters rather than narrative where the focus? Instead of the narrative moving along at break neck speed like last season, they’ve actually taken the time out to give us some great interactions between the characters whom we’ve watched for nearly a decade- a lot of whom will probably be meeting their demise in the coming weeks. For me and I’m sure a lot of other people, I’ve seen waiting for some of the interactions we’ve seen these last two episodes for years. I don’t want them rushed. They’re just as important to me as the actual upcoming battles.

I’m very happy with the “calm before the storm” that we’ve experienced so far- and I have full faith that the “storm” over the next few episodes will be well worth the wait.

Fair enough just that the 'calm before the storm' story arc is one of the most cliched paths in films/productions. GoT has long been successful at surprising us and I enjoy the character development at the expense of action sequences but there effectively remains 3 episodes left to tie things up. Would've been more in keeping with Martin throwing the reader a curve ball
