I simply don’t know who ‘the woke’ are. I have some friends who are a fair bit younger and a couple that lecture in gender identities. I’ve been corrected by them a couple of times for misusing gender labels.
I mean they’re very nice people though and all are empathetic and considerate. Are these people actually dangerous? Are these the wokes?

Mmm. So, you seem to be uniquely unaffected by all this propaganda, and only think about Trump in terms of how he occupied others thoughts. Could it be that you’ve fallen for a different stream of propaganda?
maybe. one can never assume to be immune.

Re Biden. The low posts in his thread I would argue, is down to most people also wanting boring politicians. Politicians should be like referees, when you don’t notice them they’re generally doing a decent job.
agreed.

(Re varying degrees….)
Not the type of reference one would want for the most powerful man in the world, and I think you were being very generous.
Obama's rhetoric intelligence did spoil us. For incompetence, i don't think W Bush can be beaten.

I watch a lot of John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers and they are constantly showing clips of Fox and their rhetoric.
I don't watch much Fox, nor Tucker (other than the recent UFO bit).

Check out this post on John Oliver & co.

Congratulations to Maya Forstater, a victory for biological reality and common sense.
can't google, am on my way somewhere. what's it aboot?

No, but why even compare them? It’s like comparing murderers with people who cut the crusts off toast.

I was comparing methodologies, how one feeds the other and how it is therefore self-defeatist.

I quite literally stated I wasn't saying one was better or the same as the other. The right exploit the fears of the populace to further their aims; the left laughs at those that don't fall in line (the basket of deplorables, that bigoted woman etc.) and lends credence to those fears by seemingly finding everything and anything offensive, thereby undermining their own aims.

The left start from a position of disadvantage; I don't think it's wise to exacerbate that by handing the enemy the exact weapons needed to defeat you.

She was refused a work contract renewal because she believed sex was biologically immutable and that it was therefore impossible to change sex. She lost an initial court case, with a judge saying her view was "not worthy of respect", but the appeal has found that, yes, it was, and it is a protected view.

The trans activists are trying to claim it isn't a victory because the decision doesn't allow misgendering, but that was never the issue in court - it was the core belief that sex was immutable that was the issue.

I mean I say "belief", "opinion" etc. but let's be honest, it's scientific fact - sex is determined at birth by XX/XY, 'woman' means human female, therefore trans women aren't women, they are trans women. The 'trans' aspect of that description should be respected and not erased; there's no shame in being trans.

Kind of hard to read this, it reads as if you’ve tried to be even handed whilst ladling on every stereotype against “the left” you can find.

The reality is of course that “the left” doesn’t need to “hand it’s enemy the exact weapons needed to defeat it”; the right already has the money, most of the media, the political control and much of the populace thinks it’s got to act on a certain way to avoid ridicule. This is (and has proved) more than enough to retain control irrespective of what it’s enemies (with centrists lumped together as “the left” here) do.

That’s hilarious about John Oliver. A proper terrible take.

Indeed, so that's why you fight smarter, not dumber. If the stereotypes are harmful, don't lean harder into them.

Blair presented himself as the competent 'new left', a smart rebrand. Biden presented himself as the non-offensive unifier in turbulent times, nullifying the 'radical' attacks on him as self-apparently not valid.

Whether you like it or not, these are the proven strategies that work electorally against the right. The alternative is moaning about the rights' dominance and being in a position of perpetual protest.

Perhaps you too have been conditioned to think special purpose tax districts are sometimes abused for personal gain and as a result the need for proper oversight of government spending should be more widely understood.

The post seems to be that every 20 seconds or so, he makes a joke, so that makes it some sort of underhand, hypnotic, neuro-linguistic programming.

It’s a comedy show. He’s a comedian. The show has regular jokes in it.

There really is a lot of bullish!t out there.

Yep, you could do the same deconstruction of any TV show.

I mean just a random Tucker Carlson image online.

Gee, I wonder what the person standing next to the Chinese flag with a bag of money means... could that possibly be psychological manipulation?

Sean Hannity:

I wonder what the purpose of a smiling Trump in front of an American flag is?

And so on.

EDIT:

LOL at this one - NewsMax is next level of course but bloody hell.

Blair’s rebrand only worked because he bought off a lot of the media opposition; had he not done so we’d probably have had a much closer election in 1997 even without the other things he did to make himself appealing to the wealthy.

Biden on the other hand didn’t have to present himself as a unifier; he didn’t have to present himself as anything other than a sane alternative to Trump given his decades of political life and service as VP over eight years.

Even then of course tens of millions believed what they were told about how extremist he was, rather than what he’d actually done. They still believe it.

So it isn’t really fighting smart or fighting dumb; it’s recognising that the fight is rigged.

So what do you do in that scenario? Keep doing the things the rigged system is rigged to fight, or go around it?

You will be fading like Marty McFly in back to the Future any min now as they cancel your existence on this realm.
