AFC Fylde vs Bristol Rovers
2nd December 2028

=bristol rovers result.webp

Bristol Rovers had picked up form and climbed to tenth in the League One table. A win for Fyle could see them open a three point lead on rivals Ipswich Town. Mick Wisdom was in excellent form and stung the hands of the keeper after 4 minutes from a good free-kick. Morton crossed into the box on 30 minutes and Henderson peeled away from his marker but his shot struck the base of the post. With Mick Wisdom missing a chance from the set piece earlier on, it was Bristol's Nick Torr to show the perfect technique as he lifted the ball around the wall and into the top corner after 44 minutes. Fylde were not looking to go into half-time trailing, Henderson used his pace to get free of the defence and hit a shot from outside of the box but the keeper got across to tip it away. Fylde started the half looking for the equaliser, Morton received the ball from Pope inside the box and his shot straight down the pipe of the keeper was tipped over. Wisdom swung the corner in and the ball bounced in front of the back post and there was nobody there to capitalise on it. Bytheway played a nice ball into O'Neill who chested it down and got into the box but the keeper saved the shot. There was only six minutes left in the match and Wisdom done well to win the ball on the edge of his box, he played it long and out wide on the left for O'Neill who ran forward but was upended by Lapslie, he had already been booked! The Fylde players urging the referee to send him off! He received his second yellow and Rovers were down to ten. Ferguson brought on Sargent and Allaway to support the attack in stoppage time but there was not enough time to have an impact and Bristol Rovers come away with an away win. They got the job done from the free-kick and Fylde just couldn't break them down.

Oldham Athletic vs AFC Fylde

Fylde travelled to Boundary Park to play 21st placed Oldham Athletic. With Danny Smith and D'Margio Wright-Phillips in the last week, the Coasters supporters were a bit confused as to why they were allowed to leave given the only first team natural right winger is now on-loan Vince Bytheway. Sam Allaway and Euan Henderson can also play on the right if required. Elliot got the ball out to the right for Dale who was in acres of space, he crossed into the box for Nathan May who headed to put Oldham in front after 5 minutes. Fylde took their chance on 35 minutes, Okoroji threaded a fine ball through the centre for O'Neill who took a touch and buried it past the keeper. Brilliant finish from the striker! Fylde brought on Josh Ferguson to bolster the attack but the game petered out and both sides took a point each.

Fylde will be hoping to get back to winning ways with the christmas period a defining period in the season. O'Neill latched onto the long ball from Mark Morton controlling it on the chest and breaking free of the defence but the keeper acrobatically saved to deny him. Mansfield had Fylde under some early pressure but they were solid at the back and closing down everything. Neil Foster was making outstanding saves in the first 30 minutes keeping Fylde in the game. Fylde went in at half-time fortunate to be level and came out with a bit more confidence in the second half. Henderson played it wide to Okoroji, he lobbed a long ball forward and O'Neill took it down and blasted past the keeper! His 12th of the season! Bytheway picked up the ball from the clearance and crossed for the head of Henderson put he powered it straight at the goalkeeper. Henderson was having a quiet game and was replaced by Sam Allaway, within minutes of coming on Allaway was booked and immediately told to calm down by Duncan Ferguson. 79 minutes on the clock and Allaway played it to O'Neill who ran against the defence but was tackled, he showed his work rate and won the ball back from the defender and slid the ball across the box to Bytheway to make it two! Brilliant effort shown by Tyrone O'Neill who has developed into a remarkable centre forward. Four minutes went up for stoppage time, Foster threw the ball out to the left for Allaway who sent it long for O'Neill who was hanging off the last defender, he brought it down, got into the area and smashed it in! Another goal for the striker! The match is over and what a second half from The Coasters!

DF: First half we were tested but we defended as a unit and Neil Foster was brilliant as ever between the sticks. The half-time team talk had a positive effect, I told them to get the ball forward at every opportunity and Tyrone was at his best today. He has really been benefitting from the coaching at the club and to see it paying off on the pitch is rewarding. He gets double figures every season but I am convinced he can get over 20 in this campaign.

Big Brian Bunny Bunn from the main stand? With the sheepskin coat? Drives a big old jag and is rumoured to have links with the west Lancashire coast organised crime syndicate? Bloody hell!

Or just the board trying not to splash the cash again?

Bunsy is as dodgy as Mad Micks Friday curry we had before that trip to Forest Green 3 years ago. Talk about rings of fire!

Still, no doubt Bunny Bunsy Bum Bunn has the cash to splash. That Laundrette business of his has made him hundreds.... Probably even thousands of pounds!

Teflon Bunny the cops call him. Steals mars bars from the petrol station and has them eaten before they can arrest him.

Remember when Goatface Gazza pinned him down after that win over Yeovil and chopped his man bun off. Oh how we all laughed.

AFC Fylde vs MK Dons
23rd December 2028

=MK Dons result.webp

Could Fylde be top of the table for Christmas 2028? Three points here could see it happen with the visit of struggling MK Dons. It didn't take long for the first goal, Okoroji crossed into the box to Bytheway who headed it down for Josh Ferguson, he lined up the shot but passed it right to Bytheway who took a nice touch and buried it into the bottom left corner! MK Dons looked out of sorts and Josh Ferguson struck the post a minute later. Josh Ferguson looked like he had a point to prove and played a nice ball to Pope whose shot was tipped wide on minutes. Some good attacking play from The Coasters in the opening ten minutes. Vince Bytheway came close from the resulting corner heading just over the bar. Okoroji played the ball to Henderson who deceived the defender and broke into the area, he played it to Ferguson who knocked it on to Mel Pope and he rifled it in! Fylde make it two after 12 minutes! Tyrone O'Neill almost got in on the action when he headed over Bytheway's cross on 17 minutes. Fylde kept the ball in the MK Dons half, O'Neill finding Henderson on 22 minutes whose shot was tipped behind. James Ferry kept the ball alive for MK Dons and crossed for Harris but Foster saved, the ball ran loose and Harris tapped it in, MK Dons get themselves back in the game. MK Dons were hopeful of equalising before half-time but Okoroji made a good interception and got the ball to Henderson, it was three against two with Henderson playing it to Ferguson who knocked it on one more time to Bytheway to get the third with a curling shot whistling into the top left corner! It turned out to be a great victory for Fylde and a good performance to match.

DF: Josh was brilliant today, three assists and he really showed his quality. We're in a great league position, there is a lot of competition at the top and the table is often going to change. We really want to keep showing our quality throughout the rest of the season. We have a tough trip to Fratton Park on Boxing Day and will be hoping to come away with the points.

Portsmouth vs AFC Fylde

=Portsmouth result.webp

An away trip to Fratton Park on Boxing Day for The Coasters and a chance for Portsmouth boss Liam Bailey to get a look at Euan Henderson who he had recently been admiring in the local press. Duncan Ferguson made changes from the team that played three days ago with Allaway replacing Henderson and Sargent leading the line with O'Neill playing behind. Tyler Garrett was back from injury and slotted in at left back. Jerome Sinclair will be looking to add to his goal tally today but may find it hard up against Smith and Feeney who have been in exceptional form this season. Sinclair headed against the post on 2 minutes giving Fylde a muich needed wake up call. The game was looking open and Bytheway sent it down the right for Barry Sargent who got to the byline and crossed for Sam Allaway but he headed into the side netting. Henderson and Josh Ferguson came on in the last 30 minutes to try to steal a win for The Coasters. Portsmouth were looking the moe threatening team in the last 20 minutes being denied by the woodwork from the corner. Overton hit the cross bar with the shot, picked up the loose ball and Foster made a fantastic save from close range. Fylde lost possession in the last few minutes and Portsmouth got forward in numbers and Foster pulled off a great stop to deny Portsmouth a winner. Neil Foster was outstanding in goal and earned Fylde a point.

DF: It's a good point, to come down here and take something from an experienced side like Portsmouth is a good result. We are still high in the table and our league form is consistent. We have a tough away game now in the F.A. Cup against Forest Green and we want to do all we can to get into the fourth round.

F.A. Cup Third Round

=Forest green result.webp

Bret McGavin was back in the squad for the trip to Forest Green making the bench. Former Fylde goalkeeper Russell Griffiths was dropped to the bench in favour of John Nixon. The travelling away supporters were right behind their team and could be heard in the build-up to kick off. Eric Sharman shoukld have made it 1-0 to Forest Green when he capitalised on Smith's mistake but Foster done well to save it. The rain was beating down but it never affected Fylde coming forward, Morton crossed into the box, Henderson headed it down for Bytheway who slotted to open the scoring! Okoroji whipped the free-kick into the box on 18 minutes, Wisdom went up for the header but it was cleared to Alan O'Neill who put the ball back in, Wisdom headed against the post and Euan Henderson jumped on the keepers fumble and put it over the line! Fylde were hammering Forest Green and it looked like the third was only a matter of time. The first half was coming to and end, Henderson lobbed the ball into the area for O'Neill to chase and he alomost got there but was fouled by Owen Green! Penalty! Surely Green must be off? Anthony Taylor showed him the yellow card and the Fylde players are furious! Duncan Ferguson urged his players to calm down as Henderson placed the ball down for the spot kick, Henderson went to the left and Nixon guessed right! The Forest Green fans raise the noise levels and The Coasters are furious. Tyrone O'Neill was getting frustrated in front of goal, Scott played it forward and the striker latched onto it but the he lashed it over the bar. Bret McGavin made is long awaited return to first team action when he replaced Mick Wisdom on 70 minutes. With ten minutes to go Forest Green had to push forward in numbers if they were to get something out of this tie. Fylde seemed happy to sit deep and let Forest Green come forward, they defended well and Egan blazed over the bar in what could be the last chance for Forest Green. Fylde were victorious and it was a case of job done.

DF: It wasn't the prettiest of performances but we scored the goals to win us the match and kept a clean sheet. We're delighted to be in the next round and are excited to see who we are going to draw.
