It's a third game in a week for Chesterfield and Ferguson rotated the starting eleven. Stockbridge came in at right back and Ferguson opted for a midfield three with Kyle MacDonald playing behind Wisdom and Pope. Allaway played on the right with Sargent up top. Tyrone O'Neill came down with food poisoning a few days earlier and will miss out. Ferguson was critical of the fixture congestion in his pre-match press conference and when he was pressed on his thoughts of new ownership of the club he stated he was excited but frustrated to be working under a transfer embargo when he has identified players to help strengthen the side for the second half of the season. Stephen Duke-McKenna came close to opening the scoring for Chesterfield with his shot drifting wide, but the winger was causing Fylde problems on the left. Fylde got the ball to Henderson who was on his favoured left side, he ran forward and Sargent timed his run to perfection staying onside, he got the ball inside the box and struck with his left into the bottom corner! Fylde needed to get the secind goal as Chesterfield looked a threat at times. It looked like Fylde were happy to defend the lead and hit Chesterfield on the counter. Chesterfield had been the better team but as the match rolled into stoppage time, they were tiring and Fylde were dealing well with the pressure. Sam Allaway worked hard to win the ball back in his own area and played it safely to MacDonald. Fylde played it around the midfield and the final whistle came. A good win for The Coasters.

No details have been revealed on what happened in the meeting between Brian Bunn and Fylde chairman David Haythornthwaite but we believe Mr. Bunn was short of the valuation the chairman had of his club and talks broke down.
Fylde midfielder Mick Wisdom has become one of the best ball winning midfielders in League One and Portsmouth have put in a bid for the midfielder which Duncan Ferguson has immediately turned down.

Disappointed with the collapse of cream buns takeover though. I just saw Amanda Staveley tweeting that it was a carve up by the league who wanted to keep the Coasters from breaking the elite's grasp of football.
I was in the dog and balls with Ken the kettle the other night when Bunny arrived in looking like Arthur [Poor language removed] Daly, anyway Ken being the man again says "Football clubs now is it bunny?" to which Bunny answered " If it's good enough for Abramovich, Ken old boy, then it's good enough for me"
Tyrone O'Neill was back in the team after recovering from his illness. Struggling Southend will be looking to get a result against a top Fylde team and Ferguson was aware of this by setting his team up with a midfield three. Southend were playing well in the first twenty five minutes but were unable to break the deadlock. Henderson got on the ball from Wisdom's pass and he lofted it through to Bytheway but the shot was saved. Bytheway got the ball over to O'Neill who kept it alive on the left, played it back to Garrett who crossed to Bytheway and he slotted to make it 1-0! Bytheway wheels away but sees the flag is raised! He was slightly offside. The first half was tough for Fylde and they never seemed to get going. They must improve in the second. Southend came close to take the lead and looked the more likely side to grab a goal. Ferguson changed things by bringing on Josh Ferguson and Barry Sargent. Pope lost the ball in the Southend half and a long ball was pumped up towards Flynn on the left wing he got into the area and had Feeney to contend with who stuck out his leg and brought him down, the referee gave the penalty! Joel Allcock took the kick and put it to Fosters left and he guessed right but it went past him, Southend with the lead late in the game. A minute later Tyler Garrett took control of the ball on the left, he approached the Southend half and played a long ball to Bytheway who took it down nicely and blasted it low past the keeper! 1-1! A goal in front of the travelling Coasters! Allcock and Flynn were running the show for Southend and Fylde could not deal with them, Allcock headed at goal but it was straight at Foster who palmed it away. Fylde won the ball back and Bytheway received it from Wisdom, he galloped forward and played it to Henderson who took it down but he blazed it over the bar, what a chance! He should have scored! It looked to be the last chance for Fylde and it's a draw here in Southend. Fylde done well to equalise after giving away the penalty.

Fylde must not take any result for granted in this league as they come up against bottom of the table Burton Albion. Chima Okoroji played the ball forward for Tyrone O'Neill who had his initial shot saved but scored the follow up grabbing his 14th of the season! Fylde remained in control of the match but the high crosses into the box wasn't working. Bret McGavin won the header from the Burton goal kick and Josh Ferguson got it out wide to Henderson, he took a touch and crossed for O'Neill who rose his marker and planted the ball into the top corner! His second of the match! Burton came out with an attacking game plan in the second half, Steven Barbour had a chance with the free-kick just after the restart and struck the post, Foster pounced on the loose ball and smothered it safely. Henderson came forward but was up against a goof full back in Gale, he played it inside to McGavin and he hit it long for O'Neill to get his hat-trick but the keeper pushed it away. Fylde got the ball forward into the Burton half, Bytheway drifted past two Burton players and crossed into the box but Gale clattered O'Neill and gave away a penalty! Henderson took hold of the ball but was in conversation with O'Neill who wanted it. Henderson reluctantly handed it over and O'Neill wanted to grab his third. O'Neill went down the middle and the keeper saved! The striker put his head in his hands. Henderson was substituted on 80 minutes and the winger received a standing ovation for a dazzling display. Fylde got the result with a good attacking display.
DF: Burton done well to keep the score to two and we needed to find another way of getting the ball in for O'Neill, he is deadly when the ball is played in front of him and his off the ball running was fantastic. It was good to see Euan playing like that as well, a goal or two for him would do his confidence wonders.

Bradford City vs AFC Fylde

Mid-table Bradford were up against Fylde who were performing well above expectation this season and many pundits were questioning if it would last much longer. Mant faces in the media have heaped praise on Duncan Ferguson considering the tight restraints he has been working with and say it is only a matter of time before a club in the Premier League come looking. Twenty minutes into the match and Okoroji took the throw-in to Ferguson who turned his marker and got into the area, he cut it back for McGavin but the keeper made a great save to deny him. Bradford almost made it 1-0 but Foster saved from close range and threw the ball out wide to Tyrone O'Neill, he dribbled past the full back and lofted it right to Bytheway. He took the ball into the area and was brought down by Richardson. Fylde awarded the penalty. Euan Henderson wanted this one and made sure it was his, he planted the ball down and made no mistake burying it into the right of the net! The keeper had no chance. Bradford City got the ball down the right hand side to Clements who crossed low into the box for Hurst but Nathan Smith put in a tackle and took out Hurst, The referee gave a penalty to Bradford! Humphreys put the ball into the roof of the net with venom, 1-1! Frank Obi came forward through the middle with the ball at his feet just after the restart and Wisdom done his best to win it back but gave away a foul on the edge of the box. Obi lined up the free-kick and the trajectory over the wall was perfect and it went in off the bar, Bradford take the lead! Josh Ferguson tried a hopeful ball for Henderson who chased and almost got it but the keeper got there first and cleared. Clements on the ball for Bradford in the Fylde half, Wisdom came over and crunched him on the ankle in an attempt to win the ball, the referee blew his whistle and it was Wisdom's second yellow card, he was off! Fylde reduced to ten men and chasing the match. Fylde had the momentum and were doing well in possession but this will change their approach now. Henderson took the ball from Foster's punt upfield, he played it inside to Mel Pope who came on to replace McGavin. Pope played a direct diagonal pass that fizzed to Bytheway and he crossed to O'Neill and he blasted it home on the volley! 2-2! What a ball from Mel Pope. Both teams were going for the winner and it was end to end in the last five minutes, Clements crossed into the box low but Morton was there to take it and put it behind for a corner. Nathan Smith dealt with the resulting corner and Fylde pushed Bradford City back into their own half. Seconds left on the clock with the Bradford fans imitating the whistle. Garrett played it to Ferguson in the centre circle, the ball was won back by Clements and the referee signalled the end of the match. Fylde done well to rescue a point despite being down to ten men for the last thirty minutes.
Duncan Ferguson has brought in Charlie Dootson for the remainder of the season on loan. The attacking midfielder had made 12 league appearances in the Championship for West Bromich Albion scoring two goals. Ferguson jumped at the opportunity when David Adams made the midfielder available for loan.
DF: I had a chat with Vinny Bytheway who came through the West Brom academy with Charlie and he told me a bit about the lad before I made contact with West Brom. David [Adams] is in contact with me over the progress of Vinny and I enquired about the possibility of bringing Charlie over as well. I think he is going to have a fantastic impact here.
DF: Reading are a team pushing for promotion to the Premier League and we are a team that were playing non-league football two years ago. We have to be ready and be at our very best at the Madjeski. If we stick to the game plan we have a chance but we have to play to our best and the lads need to be up for this from the off. We will have a good crowd with us in support and we know for a fact they'll be right behind the team.
