Fylde were at home to 21st place Rochdale who were struggling with life in League One since being promoted. With Josh Ferguson missing through injury and Barry Sargent not performing well, O'Neill led the line and Fylde played a three man midfield. Henderson looked up for this one when he dribbled past three Rochdale players and hit a shot outside the box but the keeper caught comfortably. Fylde had Rochdale contained in their own half and the midfield were playing fluently. Ryan Scott tried a hopeful cross from the edge of the box and Henderson worked hard to get his head to it and it looped into the top corner! Fylde took the lead with a fww minutes left in the half. Fylde started the half playing scintillating football, playing it around nicely outside the Rochdale penalty area trying to work the opening. Rochdale had a corner on 52 minutes and before it was sent in Henderson looked to have shoved Clarke inside the box and the referee awarded the penalty. Clarke took the ball and placed it down before burying it into the bottom right corner. Rochdale seemed happy to sit back and let Fylde come forward, The Coasters struggled to get the ball into the box and O'Neill was isolated. Sargent came on for Ryan Scott and went up top, Henderson hit the bar after O'Neill played him in and time was running out for The Coasters. Rochdale were operating the lo block tactic and kept everything out. Eight minutes to go and Ferguson was was on the touchline giving his midfield instructions to get forward. Pope found Bytheway outside the box and he his a shot with his left foot that curled away from the keeper and went into the bottom corner! Fylde just had to get through the five minutes of stoppage time. Rochdale were fighting for the equaliser and it was Fylde's turn to defend. Henderson managed to break free and played in Sargent who beat the last man with ease, got one on one and the keeper saved. Fylde earn another three points in the league with a hard fought win.

AFC Fylde vs Bury
18th November 2028

=Bury result.webp

Fylde were hopeful of continuing their impressive run of form with the aim of making it seven wins from seven in League One. Vince Bytheway was suspended after picking up five yellow cards so Danny Smith started on the right wing. Four minutes in and Nathan Smith headed to Danny Smith who came forward and played it inside to Pope, he fed it to Morton who sprinted down the right and the cross was supplied for Tyrone O'Neill who headed in his ninth goal of the season and the 100th goal of his career! Fylde held their lead throughout the half and were looking to double it but the chances were not coming with Bury limiting them to shots outside the box. Danny Smith dribbled forward but his early cross was blocked, Morton pounced on the loose ball and aimed it into the box towards Henderson who hit the volley against the defender and it deflected in! It looks like that one will go down as an own goal. Fylde looked in control in the second half, the best chance coming from Henderson when his long range shot just whistled past the post. Mel Pope almost made it three after getting the pass from Henderson but his low driven shot was just wide.

Morecambe vs AFC Fylde
21st November 2028

=Morecambe result.webp

An away trip for Fylde along the coast up north to Morecambe. The sides last met in 2022 in League Two drawing 2-2. Oliver Sarkic opened the scoring and club legend Danny Rowe rescued a point. With the season approaching the mid-season mark, Fylde are in a fantastic position and are playing some of the best football in the division. The first half ended with both teams level and minimal action inside the first half. Henderson with the only real chance which went wide. Time was running out for both teams, Wisdom crossed the ball in and Allaway got up for the header but he was judged offside. Anthony Gordon was allowed a lot of space in the middle and came forward, hitting a shot towards the bottom corner but Foster got over to parry it away. Gordon had another chance for Morecambe in the last five minutes but Foster saved it, it looked like he didn't know much about it. O'Neill played it to Henderson in stoppage time and he powered forward then hit his shot but the keeper got down to save it. It's all over in Morecambe and it's a point apiece. Both sides just didn't seem to do enough to win the match.

DF: It was a tough night and we wasn't quite at our best. We didn't play that well going forward and were bereft of ideas. We have a few days now before we play a tough cup match away at Ebbslfeet so getting the players ready and in top condition for the weekend is my focus.

F.A. Cup Second Round

=Ebbsfleet result.webp

League Two leaders Ebbsfleet up against high flying Leage One side Fylde. A chance to enter the hat is at stake for the third round with the prospect of a glamorous cup tie. Josh Ferguson was back in the team after his jaw injury and Tyrone O'Neill took a familiar position leading the line. Ten minutes into the match and Garrett got down the left crossed into the box and Bythway picked it up, put it back across for Henderson who headed against the bar. Mick Wisdom had a chance with a free-kick 20 yards out to the left of the penalty area, he curled it over the wall and it went into the net! What a strike! Archibald got through on goal for Ebbsfleet in the last five minutes of the half beating the back line but Foster closed the gap and saved well. The resulting corner almost was a goal for Ebbsfleet, the ball ran along the goal line and Foster managed to grab it before it went behind the line. Two minutes after the restart, Ferguson pumped the ball forward but the defence managed to bring it down but the touch was terrible and O'Neill capitalised and slotted past the keeper! Nice finish from the striker! A few minutes later Ebbsfleet were playing in the Fyle half, Baker got the ball to Connor who shrugged off Garrett and hit a low shot which bobbled past Foster. Ebbsfleet with a foothold back in this cup tie. Josh Ferguson managed 65 minutes on his return and was replaced by Ryan Scott. Tyler Garrett was hobbling on 71 minutes and signalled to be replaced, Okoroji got stripped off and came on for the last twenty minutes. Fylde just had to keep the ball in the last few minutes but Okoroji put it in thr hands of the Ebbsfleet keeper giving them a chance to get the ball forward. Dalby got the ball and played it wide to Connor, he found Dearnley who shot but Foster tipped it behind. The board went up for six minutes added on and Duncan Ferguson was furious with the fourth official! Dalby almost scored from the corner but headed over the bar. Archibald beat the offiside trap from the long ball and was one on one with Foster, Feeney sprinted across and put in a tremendous tackle. Time was ticking down but Ebbsfleet were looking dangerous. A minute to go and Ebbsfleet were playing long balls into the box. Connor was fouled on the edge of the box by Morton, he took the free-kick but put it into the side netting, it should be over now. The whistle goes and Fylde go through! A nerve racking finish but Fylde will be the ones in the draw for the third round!

LEAGUE TABLE

league table after 20.webp

DF: Our league form has been fantastic but we now have a busy December with six fixtures in the month and Tyler Garett is looking to be out of action for around 4 weeks and will likely miss December. We hope to have him back to full fitness in the new year and Bret McGavin's rehabilitation is going well and we will see him in the new year also. We are taking this one game at a time and we aren't getting ahead of ourselves. If we find ourselves in this position towards the end of the season then we know what we are aiming towards.

Wright-Phillips leaves AFC Fylde

After joining the club in 2019 and spending almost a decade of his career at Fylde, the 27 year old winger has decided to leave the club in search of a new club. The winger was a key part of Duncan Ferguson's time in the National League making 223 league appearances scoring 36 goals and acquiring 34 assists.

DF: D'Margio was an exceptional young talent and mesmerised fans with some fantastic goals over the years. I wish him nothing but the very best in his future.

D'Magico, we'll never forget you. I don't think we'll ever replace his cheeky grin or joy filled saunters up the wing. Rumour has it that he was happy to sit on the bench but the change in physio has severely damped his ardour for staying.
