I see this Mina fitness thing. He played a lot of games last season didn't he? He played 3 games a week at times last season.

I'm not sure as wasn't first choice for much of it.

Last season there was cover even if it was Holgate or Branthwaite both of those are now not available for some time, that's the massive difference and Mina has had more injuries than Keane in the past, risk one but not both.

Yes we are struggling for cover, I do agree with that. I think Gibson stays until Brainthwaite is back fit/we get one through the door on loan.

However he did play 33 games last season, and 29 league games. He was quite consistent. I'd play Mina and Keane and hpe to build an understanding. Mina should be able to coast his way through this game anyway.

I am hopeful we might win this one!

Tbh we can't carry on playing Mina and Keane together for much longer, they're too alIke and neither has the real pace needed in at least one centre back.

It's rather like the heavily criticised pairing of Maguire and Lindeloff for United against Palace, these pairings, even if you think ours is better, have too much in common and Palace's forwards made hay against United. We badly miss Holgate but must get someone with more pace alongside Keane for me. I've been impressed with Michael Keane but needs a quick man alongside him to cover for when he just lacks pace.

But unless we intend to sell one, they have to be prepared to play together a fair bit. Stubbs and Weir always did ok.

I've been thinking, i wouldn't mind seeing Iwobi in a midfield 3. I like Gomez dont get me wrong just think Iwobi may give us a bit of extra drive and a few more goals from midfield. He looks like a lost child out on the wing.

We defend much deeper as a result, not that I think that's a bad idea, remember the high line at Anfield last year.

Good point this, it can be seen from our formation defending free kicks too, look at how close to our keeper our backline is - trying to cut down the space in behind and in theory Mina and Keane have enough to dominate anything lofted in.

I was looking at City's back four last night and it looked as if it would struggle, which in the second half it did, but the shield in front - in their case of Fernandinho and Rhodri can do so much to make it solid enough anyway. In our case hopefully Allan and whoever is alongside him (Gomes), can do the same for Keane and Mina to stop the Palace lads getting a clean run at them
