I've noticed a lot of comparisons between Manny, Cahill and Osman from Saturday, and yes they were ALL crap, but the only other Everton player Manny should really be compared to currently is P-Lar.
Cahill and Osman are more likely to be "allowed" to have a bad game, as we have seen them perform time and again (especially Cahill) so the odd bad match is to be expected, as we know they'll perk up again (even Arteta hasn't been on form recently), whereas with P-Lar and Manny, both are on loan and should be trying to prove their worth to the team so they get signed.
There is a difference between these two players. P-Lar has "tried" almost every minute of every game. I remember him in a game a bit ago now, trying to thread the eye of a needle all game - he barely made a pass count, but he persevered, chased the ball, worried the opposition, won it now and again, but really did very little. The thing is, generally even when he plays bad, he chases and harries and makes life difficult for his opposite number. He plays like a man who is chasing a contract.
Manny on saturday just didn't run, didn't chase, didn't do anything other than stand around, waiting for the ball so he could offload it, or get tackled, and then continue standing in or near the centre circle.
For me, that is the difference that makes me think badly of Manny after Saturday - Yes he needs time to settle, Yes he has hardly played all season til he came to us, but on saturday, he was making up the numbers imo, with too little effort to get himself involved in the game.
If, next game, he runs his heart out trying to regain lost balls, even if he can't pass to one of us lot, he will go back up in my opinion.
