Cant believe people are slating him?

He's had his best game by a mile tonight, really came out of his shell in the 2nd half.

Tricks, passing, link up play.

People remember his 3 or so crosses which didnt beat the first man.

Manny was great today.

I thought he played better tonight than he did in the Reading match. But if I'm being honest, his first half was nothing to write home about.

I felt he got better as the game went on though which was encouraging to me, and I'm sure to Moyes. Had a good shot that the keeper had a hard time with but as I posted in the match thread, has to be a bit more careful with the ball at his feet and when trying some of these "over-elaborate" passes.

I still think he needs a few more matches to acclimate to the pace of play and to his teammates but I don't think we're far from that point.

Made some great passes, made some [Poor language removed] ones. Made some good crosses, made some [Poor language removed] ones. I think he's a confidence player. He makes a [Poor language removed] pass or loses the ball he gives up really till he makes another good pass then he's back in the game. There were times where I was shouting at the tele for him to just run and beat players when he had acres of space but he never did.

Still thought he did more than Cahill or Osman untill Cahill hit the post and made some great tackles to step up his game. Osman was also gash until he scored and turned into a different player altogether.

I'm still more excited of a prosepct of a Cahill, Arteta, Osman, Pienaar, Fernandes midfield though.

He does need to read the run of players more. When he understands the players around him he'll be fine

Thats a great point mate though i think fernandes had a stinker, i liked the way he always wanted the ball and was more noticable on the pitch then the abpve mentioned senior players!

For me overall he was poor tonight though (I am a fan)!

I noticed the same thing. I believe a lot of that has to do with his fitness level and as you said, his confidence. I think he wants to impress and if he starts losing the ball by "trying too much" in an effort to impress Moyes, he could end up hurting his chances if you will.

I think several times, he chose the "safe" option vs. the "try to make too much happen" option. That's ok though as we know he has it in him.

True, but the thing is I think we all know he could've had them off big style with the skill he has. He did play better the more he moved central, playing left wing aint his best position.

I thought he improved in the second half but still to reach the level we expect, having said that Phil Neville was [Poor language removed] personified how did he ever play for England(n)

It wasn't playing like that. I thought it was Fernandes best performance since his return but it didn't impress Ratters who called it poor. He ran all night proving he is at least fit. I wonder if the fact that he was taking a lot of dead balls helped him concentrate that bit more, gave him an involvement. He and Nev both made school boy errors passing across your own goal, years ago your mates would have kicked your arse for doing that.

Once the Pieman is fit I think Manny will be joining games from the bench

To be honest I had a few drinks last sunday and the r/s were givig me stick so to shut them up I offered them 10-1 we would win the match and at have time I thought I might lose a £100 so I was relieved when Ossie scored:o

I'm relieved for you as well mate

Well since Pienaar has been out on the wing and has been one of the season's revelations, I'd expect him to slot right back in when he's healthy and fit.

But you'll see more of Fernandes than you care to. I'd like to see Cahill get a bit of a rest.
