Fellaini

I honestly dont think theirs a fixed price, felli said so himself, theirs been too many different figures quoted for it too be true IMO, I think Kenwright meant no one is for sale but Felli has a clause allowing other clubs to hold talks with him and if he wants to move we have to name a price, something like that which I would say £30 mil+ or no deal

I find the idea of a 'release clause' quite distasteful. Unless it's for something like 80 million or a reflection on inflation with regards to the world of insane finances in football then it is just wrong.

22 million? That's 22 million for one of the most highly sought after central midfielders. Or 2 million more than Stewart Downing and 13 million LESS than Andy Carroll.

Why this was considered acceptable I have no idea. We paid 15 for him in the first place when he was raw.

I hope he stays as I would be disgusted if he bailed out on the dawn of a new era at the club. He should give it at least till January or I would lose any respect I had left for him.

22 mill is from a made up report. the media guessing on the off chance someone can get him for cheap. none of it matters if Martinez wants to keep him and he wants to stay and I think the first one will pretty much guarantee the second. I don't want to read the name Fellaini again till it is on our team sheet in august

because after 4 years they have just gone down man  its why I dont get why people are so optermistic if he was so good in the market why couldnt he get the players to keep them up and if he was that good something must be wrong if the lads werent playing for him to get them out of the ****e. One of my work collague's is a Wigan ST holder and he said Diame was not getting played by martinez the season before he left yet this season he has been one of the best CDM's in the league, now for a team lacking defensively why was martinez overlooking Diame? Theirs questions that need to be asked for me and this whole "he had to sell 20 players a season" and "he won the cup" doesnt answer them for me.

I'll support him but I think their are tough times ahead

May 1994: Takes Oldham down in May 1994, after 3 years in the top flight of finishing 17th, 19th, and 21st.

May 1995: Wins FA Cup with Everton, keeps Everton up in 15th place (after we had taken just 8pts from first 14 games under Walker), in a season when 4 teams went down (Prem reduced from 22 to 20 teams)

May 1996: Manages Everton to a 6th place finish, their best league placing in 6 years, and only misses out on a 2nd season of European football because UEFA punished Wimbledon & Tottenham for playing under-strength teams in the Intertoto Cup by reducing the Premier League's UEFA Cup places by one.

Constantly harping on about Wigan's relegation under Martinez is just so short-sighted and redundant. There are lots of factors that go into relegations, and it isn't solely down to the manager at all.

Perhaps, but aside from that FA Cup win Royle's record as a manager isnt exactly stellar - and that 6th place finish took place in a much more even league than anything Moyes had to compete in.

That's not how clauses work. There is a fixed price in his contract.

At the end of the day he isnt to us what bale is to spurs or suarez is to the red****e, he is replaceable and you can argue strongly we played at least as effectively when he was out last season, his goals where important but those goals DID come due to the system moyes always has employed which creates the space for the am by sacrificing the forward, so not only could we lose a player we can replace with a more than capable replacement with dosh to spare to strengthen, bit it could aid jellyman by now actually being told to be a boss slotter rather than chasing down their right back and marking the corner flag

He overlooked him when he refused to sign a new contract. so he was in his last year and thought I might spend my time and energy on players who will be here....as they didnt go down he did well

I agree but martinez has done nothing to merit some of the hype he has recieved either, is why Ive said I'll support him but im not convinced like everyone else seems to be, I suspect its down to blind faith more than anything on most people's part...

Yeah I'm pretty sure the clause is that he can speak to any champions league club or something.

This £22million bollocks has just been pulled out of The Daily Mail's arse.

Royle was a superb motivator. I remember the 94/95 season vividly and the turn around was truely remarkable.
Walker though was shocking, but he did have an eye for a player. Parkinson was a brilliant signing along with Limpar and the loaning of Duncan. Amo did well too. He was just hopeless at getting us to play football which is a bit of a problem in football management.

Lets keep the Martinez relegation crap in the Martinez threads lads.

Anyway, Fellaini. Would be surprised if he went to Arsenal as i don't see it as that much of a step up from Everton, if i was him i'd be looking at the definite trophy challengers in this country or moving to one of the top teams abroad.

Depends what you mean as stellar. Royle worked miracles at Oldham (like Martinez at Wigan), maybe more so than Martinez. He got Oldham to a League Cup Final and 2 FA Cup Semi Finals. He got them promoted to the top flight for the first time in 68 years and kept them there for 3 seasons. He saved Everton from relegation when we were absolutely dead and buried - I lived through that era and remember it vividly, the miracle that Royle worked in revitalising the same bunch of players was incredible. He won us the FA Cup, beating 3 top teams along the way - 6th placed Newcastle, 7th placed Spurs and 2nd placed Man Utd, so not exactly an easy feat. The next season, buoyed by the inspired signing of Kanchelskis, our 6th place finish was the highest in 6 years. Royle's record was very good. The following season we had a dip, which we may have rode out if Johnson hadn't been such a massive dick and sacked him. Moyes had a dip in his 2nd season too, we stuck by him and look what happened. Royle then took Man City from League 1 to the Premier League in 2 successive seasons promotions. He also took Ipswich into the Championship play offs in 2004 and 2005.

I'd say Royle had a pretty good managerial career.

"If I do end up leaving, it would be up to the club to decide on the price. I have all sorts of clauses in my contract, but there is no fixed fee for releasing me".- Fellaini

Bill Kenwright is telling local and national journos that there is a fixed fee in the clause for Fellaini. So somebody's lying.
