A lot of people* saying that the deal with united is at an advanced stage and its pretty much a straight swap with Rooney coming back to Everton. Rooney has been pushing for the deal to happen and Martinez thinks he'll complete our attack and still has plenty of funds for McCarthy and 2 or 3 other midfielders.

*I say a lot of people, I mean just me, in this post.

What you sniffing mate?

Yer ma's sticky buns. I know its highly unlikely but it will be interesting to see how the 3 big transfer stories of the summer play out. Bale, Suarez and Rooney. If United want Fellaini then it opens up the only way we could possibly get Rooney, and the only way they could get rid of him to a team who aren't a title rival.

Downsides being his wages and that it would leave us with one and a half first team midfielders.

Rooney is on £250,000 a week, £12m a year.
Fellaini is on £70,000 a week, £3.64m a year.

Rooney isn't taking a 70% paycut to come back to Everton.
And we're not going to pay £9m more a season in wages, to one player.

Simple mathematics illustrate Rooney will never be back at Everton, at least not under the current ownership at the club.

After the game, Roberto Martinez told reporters that Fellaini would likely have played had it been a competitive league or cup game but he was rested today as a precaution with the Premier League kick off just six days away.

Hopefully this is the case.
Yes feasible, but then RM then quotes he is available for the Belgium team friendly in 2 days, and he would not want him to miss that opportunity ???? -

Whilst I'm not agreeing with the post your replying too's validity or probability, Rooney is not on 250K a week, well not in simply wage terms anyway. It's stacked full of bonus's, commercial's and other conditions and perks to get near that figure. And whilst like others, knowing the probability of a rooney return any time soon is highly unlikely it is not behond the realms of possibility if all the people involved wanted it to happen.
