will never understand how some people can want or welcome Fellaini leaving, imo he is immense! and truly unique.. now fair enough my football knowledge isn't the best but I just don't see how he can be anything less than one of the best dm's in the premier league..
his ability to cover ground and break up play is nearly unmatched while his height and strength make him a pure dominating factor in the middle; for me his only true weakness is the fact that he struggles when his back is against the play, so things like when tracking runners, he can get lost, or the whittaker goal (harsh example) Osman loses that ball and suddenly Fellaini is caught a little bit out of position, even then, it looks like Baines and Pienaar have it covered but for a lucky run.. just getting passed them, causing Fellaini to lose sight a little bit, this showed his tracking to be poor and there are a few other examples of players just runner past him where he seems oblivious to them. but for the most part, playing dm the play should be in front of him..
the fact that he can also provide an attacking burst when necessary means at any moment we can go from playing a double-pivot midfield to a full on attack with only Gibson sitting back. and when he does go forward he becomes a serious threat.. see the way he controlled that free kick by Baines, class. I could easily see him playing as a pure dm, dominating the middle and playing Gibson into space to use his passing ability and then when need be (chasing the game or looking for a winner, or even just a quick change in tactic for a one-off attack) become a serious attacking threat. be a genuine 10 goal a season dm. 30mill please. hope he stays.
