After the game, Roberto Martinez told reporters that Fellaini would likely have played had it been a competitive league or cup game but he was rested today as a precaution with the Premier League kick off just six days away.

Hopefully this is the case.

I was actually thinking that myself, an infected cut is nothing, just means it's gone septic. I'm sure we've all had cuts on our knees as kids that have gone septic and we didn't even know it, that's how trivial an 'injury' it is. Hate to point out the obvious but there's far more to this than meets the eye, I'm sure

I watched him get out of his car and he walked fine. There was no sign of a foot injury - of course i didn`t examine him, but would you expect a bit of a limp ... I don`t know? I took my 6 year old daughter and she was gutted that he didn`t play after seeing him before the match - he`s the only player she likes - probably because she can recognise him immediately!

Having experienced a few infected gashes myself I can tell you it's no laughing matter.

i've never limped when i've had a cut myself. People said the same about baines a few weeks back when they .... saw a picture of him walking.

hopefully it was just precautionary...unless a team is willing to bid around £40m for him.
