Fellaini wants to leave Everton?

Sure, it's an important aspect, but you're basically saying:

'All of the other statistics which point to him being a very capable defensive player aren't as important as the one statistic which is not recorded'

Which is mad.

You say it is mad, but I would argue it is true.

If you can't track runners and you put the defence under unnecessary pressure then I don't want you anywhere near defensive midfield. Me advocating that he play as a ACM is further supported by how effective he is in that position.

Some people are arguing that he isn't even that effective further up the field. I beg to differ, and I don't think 9 goals a season (Cahill 'legendary' territory) is anywhere near beyond him.

The club can't be blamed for this. If Felli feels like he's ready for a change after 5 years fair enough. We can't hold him against his will. The one thing to be thankful for is that he signed a new long-term contract rather than waiting until his deal expired.

Given that we got nowhere near what we thought we might get for Arteta and Rodwell, something in the region of £24m might be about right. Maybe Moyes knew that this was coming and wanted to get Vadis in to take a look at him as Felli's eventual successor? Perhaps we could be an even better team with the lad from Bruges alongside Gibson and Mirallas tucked in behind Jelavic? Especially if we have the biggest part of £20m to improve our right hand side and squad depth.

Real Madrid would look to be a likely destination for Maroune. I know they have Khedira and Alonso, but they must have brought Essien in for a reason. Chelsea could also do with strengthening in that department, but I think he might prefer a move abroad out of respect to Everton.

Seeing as he told United no, i somehow doubt that. He's 27, will be 28 by the end of the season. If he wanted to make a move that would have been the one.

I think he would of gone had united put the money up, But I dont think they thought they could get van persie after forking out 24m for him they had no money left

There must be something lodt in translation. Make no sense whatsoever to say that specially at this moment finally everything is looking good for Everton. Still I don't expect him to stay with us his entire career.

The only thing I hope if he really wants to go is that A) is for 25m+ and B) he goes to a nice club like ManUtd or Barca as I am a real fan of his and would love to see him play for clubs like those and not like ManCity who has essentially bought there success.

But really I would rather see him stay with us for a long time.

1.) Yes, IF. That is your opinion, and fair enough, but I'm not sure too many share it. I don't, and I have no problem with him playing in central midfield. Not as a deep lying anchor man kind of DM though, as that's just another waste of his talents if he never gets forward.

2.) He is effective, but not as effective. Also goals really isn't what I want a 'in the hole' kind of player to be judged on. I want creativity, which is what's need to unlock stubborn defences. I was moaning about Cahill even when he was scoring because I thought it hampered our general play. We look better with an Osman type in that role, in my opinion. Although it depends on the opposition. There is no singular right way to play Fellaini; the task at hand should really influence that.

Until

a] A source other than the original one backs up the story
or
b] The player himself clarifies the statements

It's all about as worthwhile as the 'Baines to United for £5m' the Daily Mail ran a couple of months ago. That story got picked up by BBC Sport ffs.

Absolutely spot on..... are we really surprised, in some ways we have to give the lad credit that he signed the contract and did not drive it down like a few players.

We have had some times from him but this process of developing talent and selling on at a profit will carry on until we can generate money by other means or takeover.

The next to go will be Baines and then Barkley, maybe Jelly in a year or two

Arteta, Lescott and apparently Felli wanted to leave. I don't think Rodwell was pushing for a move but he probably wasn't given a lot of option. We're not in a position where we need to sell out of necessity, but if someone isn't happy or a deal comes up that will allow us to strengthen in key areas we will look at it. If Baines was going to go I think it would have happened by now. Jelavic has just turned 27. Managers will want to see if he can score goals over a full season, by which time he'll be 28 and less attractive as an investment.
