is english on the belgian curriculum?

belgium has three official languages, french, german and dutch. it could well be that he is fluent in all three.

so before you call him thick, for all you know english could be his fourth language.

You could go to Eritrea, Mongolia and bloody Saturn and people would have a basic knowledge of English
Most Frenchies I know learn basic English from our TV/Films and music, he can't be that uncultured that he doesn't have a TV or hi-fi!

i've been to mongolia and they do not have a basic knowledge of english. :P

many years ago I went with my mates to watch a record signing play and two mates decided he was [Poor language removed] the players name?Howard Kendall years later one of them remarked I'm glad hes only on loan hes a coward his name Duncan Ferguson.so lets just wait and see I think that coming to a different country and different style of football means they need time before being judged. And Barlows Boots I take it you are fluent in a few languages to pass judgement I know realise that when I worked in Germany ,France ,Belgium ,Holland and S.Africa I was thick because I didn't know the local lingo.

Shut the [Poor language removed] up. He more than likely speaks at least 3 languages: French, Dutch and German. :@

There's a difference between ordering a [Poor language removed] sandwich and saying "Oh Castillo, push forward more and watch his runs will ya!" or being told the same thing in a professional high tempo football match

I find it interesting that I have to remind Everton supporters of this but it is generally acknowledged that the English game is faster than every other league on the planet.

The pace of play is faster, therefore a player's decision making must be faster whether it's to support, pass, make a run, etc... In addition, a player doesn't have near as much time on the ball as they would in other leagues.

Every player who's ever come to play in England has had to adapt to the speed of play. Some adapt quicker than others.

Fellaini will adapt to the pace but it will take some time. I wouldn't judge him until he's had that time to acclimate to the speed of the English game.

The general consensus seems to be that he's a good player who just needs to spend more time in and around the squad to learn our style of play.

Let's hope so mate. The lack of pre-season certainly made things difficult for him. But for £15m, let's hope that he adapts pretty quickly because I'm expecting a lot from Moyes' most expensive player.

He's only been here five minutes and played a less than a handfull of games. This guy is gonna be class when he gets into our style of play. He's young, fast, strong and a great header of the ball. Our game is a lot more complex than it is in Belgium. He's just been thrown onto a new stage and needs time to find his feet before he's expected to run. He'll get there dont worry.

Agree with that. Every signing from an inferior league represents a certain risk, but I'm more than convinced that in the case of Fellaini, it's more a case of settling in, than it is of not being good enough. Still strongly believe he's going to be a big star for Everton in the coming years. He just needs time adapting.

i reckon both are trying to play 'safe' football at the moment, kind of.......give it to neville and let him give it away. once one of them or both decide its time to take control then i reckon we will be in for a treat, castillo in an international the other week was great, fellaini also for liege was great. i think they are erring on the side of caution at the moment, they may have been told not to try too much at the moment until team-mates also get used to them.
in the home game against b/burn i would say rodwell was a bit the same as every time he got it he passed to neville........who lifted it down the wing to a defender.
our football is very sterile at the moment.

Both of the new signings need to get stuck in. They are proper shitouses at the moment.

Go watch an Everton match and then come back and give me your opinion.

Castillo has definitely NOT been a shithouse.

Let me know how it works out.

I don't how they are shithouses and it makes me laugh when people claim because they are foreign they didn't care or want to be there yesterday.

Players have bad games and especially new players who have come into a team with no balance whatsoever and lots of players low on confidence.

Castillo gets stuck in from what I've seen, I do think he needs to work on his positioning though. Fellaini on the other hand is very inexperienced, only in his third season in proffessional football and he's probably never played in games like this at the moment.

He's went from an average League to the best in Europe, it's going to be quite a change and he's going to need time to adapt.
