Like Henman to Sampras before him , Murray is just unlucky that such an awesome player as Federer has a career that coincides with his - lifes a bitch :(

Yeah, thing is though, Nadal is similar age and he faced Federer down and beat him when Federer was at his peak.

Murray has a shocking attitude. Never going to be a champion with that attitude.
Federer wins because apart from talent, he has the right attitude to win.

I dont think it's attitude with Murray. He's got a great record against the top players outside the GS events. When they get serious though he cant live with them. He just hasn't got the game to win a Slam, imo.

Sorry but what absolute moron neg repped that post?

It's a Flight of the Conchords reference you thick weapon

Why don't you calm down pal. What is your problem recently? Like a bull in a china shop.

I just re-read the thread and unless you know what Flight of the Conchords is then you wouldn't get the reference.

It is his attitude. Whenever he loses a point he see his arse, and you can visibly see him beating himself up.

Federer doesn't do that - he gets on with it and wins the next point.

McEnroe & Becker used to do that. Still champions though, because they were good enough. Being calm isn't Murray's problem. Being good enough talent-wise is.

Or you'd read the ******* post and see there's absolutely no reason I would call him a [Poor language removed].

Getting angry and using it is what McEnroe and Becker did. Murray see his arse and then loses.

Let's face it, he lost this game before he even played it.

Easiest game Federer has had up until the final tie breaker, and even that was tinged with wasteful shots from Murray.

I'm telling you it's the loser mentality of the British person. Apart from a select few athletes, this country has wall to wall losers - and it's all down to the government and the way we are not allowed to express being British.

And now I hear schools have banned competitive sporting events for children. What the **** is that about???

So it's the taking part is it? Bollocks, it's about winning, and 2nd is nothing.

Murray was second best today in all departments. Even when serving for the third set he messed it up.
Still only 22 though, there is definitely at least one grand slam in him.

So, if we were allowed to express Britishness we'd have Wimbledon champions?

Err....OK.

No but we are not pushed enough to be proud in this country, were not pushed to be winners, schools don't give children the chance to be proud.

And it all comes down to the same issue, afraid of offending anybody else.

Be interested to hear from the American's and Australian posters on this one. What are the schools like, are you trained to be winners, or also rans? Because in the UK to be a winner is not as important as just being there.

I think the last British winner of Wimbledon was Virginia Wade back in around '77, which was her majestys Silver Jubilee if memory serves, some have come close since then, Henman is no more, that Rusedski or whatever he was isin't really British, and now all the talk is of Murray as the leading light in home expectations.

I know Federer won, couldn't help hearing about it from some source or another.

And it's not the winning that's important, but the taking part.

at least that's what I heard.
