Federer v Murray

sure he would, but it's beating the best that is the ultimate achievement.

It's how I differentiate between Messi and Ronaldo - Messi does it against better players and in the top games, I always felt Ronaldo did it against Portsmouth and Fulham.

A lot of success in sport has to do with timing. Murray 'may' be about to enjoy the fruits of that. Federer has declined from his peek and whilst still formidable you sense he won't get any better. Nadal sadly seems to have been struck down by fitness problems and I can't see him recapturing the form that saw him boss Federer.

Take those two out of the equation and you would have to say Murray is the best of the rest.

A certain Argentinian colossus called Del Potro would argue that point...someone who has the big shot to hurt Federer and Nadal, as he's shown in the past when it matters most: finals of Grand Slams.

I agree completely - Wales isn't even an independent country really - they don't even have a cricket team. To be fair the whole of the British Isles is a mess.

How comes Ireland are Ireland in Rugby, but in footy it's Northern Ireland and Eire.

I think we would all benefit as a united nation if we joined forces, but then the Scots, Welsh and Irish would have to get over their deep hatred for England.

The England Uber Alles stuff from you is wearing, tbh. Just saying.

Wearing thin? Is that what you wanted to say.

What have I said there now, for ****s sake.

Bollocks to this. I'm off, leave you all to it. Just simply can't be arsed with you lot anymore.

i don't think that'll be a problem as in my experience it only comes to light through sport. I can see the only major problem being which stadium to use. I prefer the Millennium to Wembley but cannot comment on Hampden or Windsor Park as i've never been to either

Windsor park is a complete [Poor language removed] hole. Needs knocking down and starting over.

Del Potro is a great player, who will only get better, and who produced a monstrous display to come back against Federer in the US.

But he's not as good as Murray. Not yet. He's inconsistent, he went through a mammoth hot streak that summer he won the open, where he won like 30 matches in a row or something sick. But so far he hasn't shown he can carry on his form through an entire calendar year.

He's got the ingredients, but like Murray isn't the finished article yet. Only difference between the two is that Del Potro showed fight in his Slam final appearence.

No need to go. It's just that your nationalism gets the better of you sometimes. That may be a case of a dog having a bad name, though.

Well whatever, just sick of it. In no way shape or form was I implying about anything to do with nationalism or any of that - I was just stating an observation, and in matter of fact it was in reply to a suggestion by someone else.

Like I say, getting a bit sick of it.

I think Del Potro will take the French this May/June. Got the game for it and was only stopped by Federer in 5 last year. The thing with Murray is that he is consistently good against the top players but hasn't looked capable of producing an upset in either GS final against Federer. I wished it weren't so but he has a game that wears down the opposition without being able to deliver a killer punch. He's like Mats Willander from a few years ago - but it's a different era now and just counter-punching wont get the job done. No big forehand/backand = no major title.

You'd be a loss if you went. Believe me, your wind ups are well appreciated by us afficianados of that particular black art. :P
