We see it deferently.

I look at my team, and wonder what it was like to lift trophies. I would like them momories of my own, and winning cups does that. Finishing 4th guarentees NOTHING.

Of course, that's why there's two options lol
I look at the team and think is a single cup worthy of Everton for the forseeable future.. no
How do we get more silverware than that?.. money.. where do we get this money?.. europe.

Replying here cos this has had more recent action than the other thread....

PErsonally I think it's a tough question, both have there merits. The way I see it now tho is that while a trophy now would be great, and something tangible in the record books, if we were to make it into the CL group the cash and cache that comes with that could help us attract the kind of players that will give us a better chance of winning more cups over coming years. If we were already closer to the Final it may be a different matter, but generally speaking the FA Cup would be a nice short term boost, whereas CL Qualification could have a more long lasting effect, which while it doesn't look as good in the record books or give us that day of glory, would be more beneficial to the club overall.

Coming 4th gives you the chance to win more cups theoretically. If you could guarantee the group stages I would take 4th just for the great nights and the money alone would be enough to significantly improve the team giving us a better shot at more trophies in the future. Knowing Premier League/FA/UEFA/Fifa and their general desire to keep all clubs in their natural place and allow the rich ones to make them richer still, I would not be too confident in getting through any qualifying round (that's if the domestic refs hadn't already fatally hindered our push for fourth as they have attempted to do on numerous occassions already). So after all that I guess no one can take the FA Cup away from you, right?

Ahem, *cough cough*
