Would the FA Cup make top players come to your club or keep you best players at the club? Probably not, does Champions League? Most definitely.

The thought of being in a CL group that contains the likes of bayern real or barca and the thought of them coming to goodison and us going over there for the return.... Well that's beats an fa cup for me..

Not to mention the players we could then attract and keep. Better off financially ect ect..

Oh and we would get through the qualifier. That freak set up of drawing villareal will never happen again!!

fa cup.

people remember cup winners, finishing 4th doesnt get you a trophy parade.

F.A.Cup , 4th place doesn't get you a group stage place and no doubt any qualifier draw would be cruel on us, even still, 18 years is way too long.

Good enough for both. CL attracts big names, buyers and alot more money than the FA Cup but who doesn't want that Wembley day out where we see Nev lift the trophy finally? Got to aim to do both, COYB!

Not sure if you guys get this ad outside Australia, but...

Although if I had to pick one, probably the FA cup. But if it was 3rd or FA cup then I'd probably lean towards third.

4th wouldn't do anything for us. We could maybe compete for one season, we will soon fall away. Newcastle, Sunderland, Stoke, , Southampton all have more resources than us: not to mention the obvious RS, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, United & City.
A cup win will be forever. I'd love 4th but I'm convinced, even if we qualify, it will be a one-season wonder.

Ask the same question to Portsmouth fans.

Fa cup would be nice. CL would be amazing for more than one day.

Reeks of being small time being desperate for a cup over CL IMO.
He's not often right these days mr wenger but he is about CL vs cups.

Replying here cos this has had more recent action than the other thread....

PErsonally I think it's a tough question, both have there merits. The way I see it now tho is that while a trophy now would be great, and something tangible in the record books, if we were to make it into the CL group the cash and cache that comes with that could help us attract the kind of players that will give us a better chance of winning more cups over coming years. If we were already closer to the Final it may be a different matter, but generally speaking the FA Cup would be a nice short term boost, whereas CL Qualification could have a more long lasting effect, which while it doesn't look as good in the record books or give us that day of glory, would be more beneficial to the club overall.
