Put it into context a bit...

West Ham are above Utd in the league and going for champs league...

UTD are the only team who outclassed us this season in part due to the circumstances on the day and their manager is under enormous pressure.

UTD have rooney and Fellaini...Fellaini can head the ball better than anyone in our defence and we are weak on crosses supposedly.

i think west ham are owed a drubbing myself whilst united could beat us and LVG needs to win.
Agree completely. If West Ham beat United, imo we'll very much be favourites to win this competition. We'd stand a good chance against United, but I look at the other three and I can only see one winner on a big stage between Everton and any of them, and it's us.

Yea exactly. With utd i would be concerned as they have nothing to play for and also totally unpredictable with depay rooney and fellaini...just a coin toss there for the match i think. With LVG he needs a win.

West ham have payet and weve shown we can turn them over.

Also i may be wrong here but Wham play on a tight pitch compared to united and with our wide players we should have an advantage over them.

The Man U / RS game on Thurs has no bearing on the announcement as they won't leave announcing the dates until after the replay with WHU has taken place. They usually announce the game times 3 days after the draw, so we'll likely hear on Thursday.

Not quite right.

I believe they will be bending over backwards to accommodate Uniteds requirements over Europe. Play it on the Saturday and it allows for an extra 24 hours rest should United qualify. The FA and us would hate to lose 4th spot and subsequently 7th.

They wouldn't be playing in Europe n the Thursday before, they might be playing the following Thursday however.

We'll see. But I still think the big pull is, BBC getting first pick, with no competition from sky or bt, surely the big match will be on the Saturday at 5.30, but could easily be 12:45... Makes commercial sense!

won't matter either way though as united have absolutely no chance of staying in Europe mate - sadly

We haven't conceded a single goal in the cup yet.
2-0 vs Dagenham & Redbridge
3-0 vs Carlisle
2-0 vs Bournemouth (pen saved)
2-0 vs Chelsea

I wonder if we would have kept those clean sheets if we had Howard in goal...

Have heard that our game will be on Saturday Man United go out of Europe and beat west ham in the replay of the FA Cup. Not sure how much truth is in that but would be good if that is the case.

Nail in Moyes' coffin that day.

He'd already decided/knew he was off.

Former Everton boss Moyes insists he had no inkling of the possibility prior to Ferguson’s call and said: “It was a really strange situation for me.

“I had no idea whatsoever. I knew nothing at all until Sir Alex gave me a call and asked me to come to his house.

“I was expecting him to say ‘I’m going to take one of your players’ or something else.

“I went in and the first thing he said to me was ‘I’m retiring’.

“I said ‘When?’, because he was never retiring and he said ‘next week’. “And his next words were ‘you’re the next Manchester United manager’.

“So I didn’t get the chance to say yes or no. I was told that I was the next Manchester United manager and that was enough.

“As you can imagine, the blood drained from my face. I was really shocked. More shocked that Sir Alex had chosen to retire.

“But inside I was incredibly thrilled that I was going to be given the chance to manage Manchester United.”

@barneygumble

There's no EL in the week prior to the FA Cup SF, and the SF of the EL is the Thursday after it. So playing on Saturday or Sunday is of no relevance to it.

No my point was that, it's more significant for United to play the Saturday as opposed to the Sunday, as should they be in Europe still (hugely unlikely, I know), they'd get an extra days rest.

With England at risk of losing 4th spot, I believe they'd allow United the Saturday if they ask for it.

Not to mention that we all know that if we play Man United the referee will give them absolutely everything.

Hotel booked for the Saturday and Sunday, just the trains to sort out so do not want a 12.45 kick off on the Saturday.
That would be to much off a rush, 17.00 on Saturday or any time Sunday works for me, though hard on anybody trying to get back home Sunday.
This is were being retired and old has it's perks.:pint2::pint2:
