Basically yes.

For the media football is no different to soaps, news or films. It is about bums on seats and ad revenue. They want Man U and if they can't have them then Arsenal, RS or Chelsea all the time. We are just about tolerable as are the Hammers. Watford V Palace would be hell for them.

Its not just football. They want England going for a Grand Slam in rugby Union. They want Wigan V Leeds in rugby League. etc. They want box office.

Correct. They're just a business. I stopped paying attention to them when the Daily Star had the nerve to publish the headline "Maddy Alive!"

Would love to smash West Ham in the final

It's supposed to hurt the team and the fans more by losing in the semi.

I know that could come back to haunt me, but, sod it, we're winning that big-eared silver blighter this year, and we'll do it by not conceding a goal right up to the final. Then imagine the fun the stats' man could have if if we get Watford in the final, go two nil down, and come back to win 3-2! For me it would be akin to my whole Everton life flashing before my eyes
