Yep, Palace sure saw us coming when they flogged us Bolassie... £28 million FFS!Wish I knew mate, really do. I seem to know who I don't want but can't say I'm so brave as to who I do. It ain't just the manager for me, although a good one would help! We've blown that much dough on a wing and a prayer changing managers like they are the only ones who can change our fortunes it's become embarrasing. The calamity on the pitch reflects the circus going on off it.
I'm just a fan who reckcons we deserve better. Throw loads of names at me I couldn't say I could back any of them until I hear what they want to do, how they plan to go about it and how the suits upstairs will support it. We are going nowhere spunking millions on bang average millionaire mercenaries who don't care if it's a tower, a seagull, or a flying monkey on their left chest. It means nothing to them but the world to many of us.
I want players whoever who want to play for us, know what it is to wear our shirt, a mix young lads in the squad who are living the dream and show no fear, other players who are good on the ball who show up when it's getting tough with a gaffer who tells us as it is and what he's trying to do. Not sure who that gaffer is but what we've become is as far removed from the Everton I've known since supporting them. It may be Fonseca but it certainly ain't the majority on that list.
Thats a no from me just based on the state of his kipper
We're not sure who the manager will be yet. However, we are sure what type of manager he'll be. It'll be a shift away again from the up and under, bread and butter Moyes type of manager which Koeman for the most part and Allardyce represented, and toward a manager who'll want to get the ball down and play.
The "pragmatists" won a battle two years ago agitating for a change that over emphasised hard work, but they'll most definitely lose the war.
Definitely.Don't tempt fate Dave! Would you have Wenger by the way?
Well said. People need to realise that you can play good football and not conceded a hatful of goals as a result. Martinez's refusal to work on the defensive area ultmately cost him his job and has compounded the overly pragmatic view of many of our fans that has been cultivated by years of dour football and the 'plucky little Everton' mentality of David Moyes.Definitely.
On the main issue of method though: I just cant see any new appointment that will compound the stylistic mistakes that have been made under Moshiri on the manager front. And I think most supporters will have realised that they threw the baby out with the bathwater when demanding Martinez's replacement with a "no nonsense" pragmatic coach that would get the team solid and disciplined. It's simply not enough in the game being played at the top level these days.
I see this as a massive chance to get ourselves out again from the primordial swamp we slipped back into. It better be taken or we'll be in real trouble soon.

Martinez was asking for trouble with his refusal to do anything to sort the defence but he was trying to build something and his first season has been my favourite to watch as an adult Evertonian. I said at the time he went that he has probably brought it on himself, but I have the feeling that, this being Everton, we would regress and live to regret it. We need a progressive manager who trusts youth, plays good football, likes to pick up the tempo and who is capable of very occasional pragmatism that doesn't sacrifice a philosophy of good football.
True - but I reckon he will take a year off before taking a big job like thatThat doesn’t mean he’s going to bloody PSG or Real though!

Long as it's not Silva......conceeding goals for fun again.....Well said. People need to realise that you can play good football and not conceded a hatful of goals as a result.
