There always seems to be a high amount of hostility towards Evertons board, but realistically, apart from Chelsea, what clubs have a better board than Everton?

We are improving year after year, spending more year after year. We are a stable club.

Theres not many i'd prefer over our own. Maybe Spurs....

Take a look at recent takeovers;

Liverpool - a takeover which has led to a ridiculous amount of debt and effectively using the club to purchase itself.

Man Utd - see Liverpool.

Man City - With owners like that, we would never have a stable, secure club. example, Moyes would have long gone when we finished 17th...

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. If the board keep improving to back David Moyes in the way they have, I for one will have no problem with that.

Certaintly a very good point. As a youngster I have yet to see a Championship winning side so in a way, I accept what we currently have because in my life time it's never been this good.

We keep picking one or two great players up each year and I think with that extra but of investment the 'one or two' could turn into five or six which would be a huge step.

If the Fans are unfair to the board and by the board most mean Kenwright, well He has brought it on himself when Bill first took control every fan I know including myself where delighted as he wasa blue who sang from them song sheet as we do.Then sadly Bill for what ever reason started to mislead us ,where shall I start The Kings dock fiasco?why not be open from the start and say I will try to get it No not Bill off they go looking at grounds to model it on and to be fair the plans they came up with where fantastic so what happens oops no money Okfair enough But dose Bill try to explain why he raised are hopes then dashed them ? no.Then the fortress fund the mystical money is in the bank oh no its not.I could go on and on asset selling and misleading us on the terms of the Kirkby move not giving a option B I would never criticise him for not having the cash thats a fact of life but his half truths and blatant lies has caused me to lose faith in him I mean how can he be looking for investment 24/7 when he has agreed not to sell any shares(Tesco claim not mine)so really if we are unfair to him there is only one person to blame.

I can only base my opinion on Kenwright's and the board's performance from when I started supporting Everton which was the last year of Walter Smith's reign.

So on that alone, Kenwright and the Board have done more than an adequate job.

We support a team in the richest league in the world. TV revenue is astronomical, making clubs in the Premiership highly desireable to own. They, the board, are sitting on a gold mine having acquired the club shares for around £20M. They came in and have used cash from the sale of the club's assets (including the sale of Rooney) in order to keep the club ticking over as a Premiership force. What is it net that Moyes has spent in his 6 seasons in charge? Circa £15M or something ridiculous?

The defence is that they've smashed the club transfer record - it was the very low £5.6M for Barmby when they took control and our latest record signing is £11M...small beer in this league.

Do I think they get unfair stick? No, absolutely not. They need to now [Poor language removed] or get off the pot.

bang on mate, I couldn't agree more (y)

Probably the most objective measure of the Board's performance is to examine the financial constraints under which the manager has operated, after all, the significant improvement on the pitch has done far more for our balance sheet than any commercial improvements in their tenure.

Although our spending has increased over recent years we are still markedly behind 3 of the teams above us (probably on a par with Arsenal, during their 'paying for the Emirates' stage). We are also markedly behind the likes of Spuds, Barcodes, Citeh, West Ham (and if O Niell gets his waay during the summer, Aston Villa) -- feel free to check these facts however, because I haven't:lol:.

We are also operating within a strict wage structure / cap, which has seen the likes of Barton / Parker / Emre end up at the Barcodes, Sissoko over the Park to name but a few (tragic losses, one and all:D).

What this does serve to highlight is how well our manager has done, and how significant his achievement of 3 top 6 finishes in the last 4 years really is.

As far as the Board's performance, well you can't really blame Bill for not being a Billionaire. I can also understand his reticence in selling up to the likes of Trashcan Sinatra (although am watching the current unfolding events with interest). It is also reassuring to note that we are unlikely to end up doing a Leeds, due in no small part to the penny pinching in paras 2 and 3.

So, as far as financial prudence and getting in the right manager, not bad going. However, the PR and Customer Services has, quite often been [Poor language removed], the Club has on far more than one occasion appeared shambolic and phenomenally disorganised and for that, the buck stops with the Board. There are also issues around future direction and the manner in which these matters are being dealt with (we'll leave the Stadium debate in it's own thread, I think), and the missed open goal which was the Kings Dock.

All in all, a bit of a mixed bag then. I will just say one thing, I do not doubt for a minute that the current Chairman believes he has the best interests of the Club at heart, and genuinely has the best intentions. Although they do say, the road to Kirkby is paved with good intentions (sorry, couldn't resist:unsure::D)

yes, i agree danny.

it seems that moyes is not too happy though. i think he wants more support in the transfer department.

i really like kenwright. i seem to be in the minority these days. but i'll always stick up for him.

Oh yeh i would hate to be united! What are they spending, 50m in 2 weeks? What a disgraceful owner:unsure:

My opinions are well, known i trust Bill more then whats presently on offer elsewhere. The accusation of the club sitting on a pot of gold is just laughable, they have given what they can, which has seen us go from relegation fodder to fifth.

They blew us all out of the water last season when we all thought we didnt have a pot to piss in and in many ways inacted a near perfect transfer strategy that in fairness noone saw coming. Why do fans increaseingly try and seperate Moyes and Bill in some way making out that Bill is marginlising Moyes by refuseing to give him money.Moyes knows whats on the table and has been happy with it. If he wasnt, then why is he still here. Both the board and manager are on the same page.

I would hate to have a Abriomivch, Yeung, Hicks, Shinawatwra, Eggert et al.

Some fans have a bubble gum view of football! Lets just thorw money around and see what happens they dont really care where it comes from, they are too caught up in the Prem hyperbubble of lights and camera angles.

I would suggest any fans criticing the board google Newtons Law.

The proof will be in the pudding this summer though. If they sit on their laurels and don't compete for a least two quality midfielders we could slide behind the likes of Villa & Pompey.

I dont really care about this anymore.

The board do their jobs and Ill do mine. Support the mighty blues.

We have a chairman who is an entertainer, remember and if its smoke and mirrors he promises you, thats what youll get.

He's doing a good job and anyone else who says otherwise would see us in the championship before too long.

Slow and steady wins the race.

which one? Force = Mass x Acceleration? struggling to see the relevance :P:D

i along with so many cry out for us to be in the bidding for the top players however i read a article recently in ref to all prem clubs and we were not sitting too far from the top ......

debt: it has us down £26m( one of the lowest in the league)
income: £51M BUT TOOK A OPERATING LOSS OF £10M for the season just gone ...... out of the 20 clubs only 3 operated on a profit and they were MANU,ARSENAL,SPURS they rest took hits and we had 1 of the lowest losses.... we were valued at £80m

yes we all lov to hav a good bitchin session bout Bill and his band of merry men but after readin this article im a lot happier with he state of our club and the slowly but surely approach we are takin
