Everton Youth Teams Thread

Everton u18s draw 1-1 with man utd u18s,Everton move up a place to 3rd,though might only be for a few hours, they remain 4 points from top, could be 7 in a few hours,,,,,,,next everton game is away to sunderland in 2 weeks

Well as ever enjoyed that , do think I'm being affected by the first team as on 3 occaisions in that 2nd half I did a "ffs" when passes went way astray anfd for Ouzonidis's last second header which should have won it- I'm usually more tolerant! The touch of Gordon is there for all to see, only 16 but let's hope he can add a bit more to his game. MicheAl Collins at the back always looks a sound defender and I like Elliot Richards over at right back. Denny for me continues to disappoint , he's shown flashes of ability over the past two seasons but by now should be a major influence in games at this level, and he's not kicking on , Kerr his partner always seems to be more involved. A fair point for each side and thanks to MUFC for allowing us to see the game.

Is USM Finch Farm now up to the standard needed for U23s?

Is Denny really a midfielder though? I've always preferred him when he played in defence. Thought the left-back - Moore - was defensively very sound. Adedoyin looked a talent but is frustratingly one footed.

I've seen Denny mainly playing in one of the two DFM roles for us and England, I know we played him in defence in our first two u18 games, think Unsy tried him in a preason game in defence too. But I would say when Michael Collins was brought in at 4 and Denny moved up to 6 our defence and results got better, Denny's got the size and style at times but lacks something. Do you remember Ryan Harrington who looked big and useful as a defender or midfielder in his first year with us but failed to kick on , Denny is reminding me of him , hope I'm wrong about him and he does kick on. But it's harsh criteria he's being judged against, two years ago Davies, Walsh , Dowell , Connolly etc were also 2nd year Scholars but starting to play at then 21 level, my rule of thumb is if as u18s Unsy is not looking at them for the U23s they are going to struggle.

Ah yeh forgot all about Harrington tbh. Did Denny get into the last international squad? He didn't really stand out whatsoever today in a game where a lot was about the midfield battle.

You got any team news mate? We've got four or five lads in the current Wales U17s squad I was wondering if they were playing, and a couple of youngsters who, apparently stood out at a Youdan Tournament in the summer who I think were under 14s.

Josh Hosie (Welsh midfielder) scored one of them but that is all I know.

Ta , he's one of the few names I know at u16, he scored in a 3-2 win against WBA last week . The others I have who are in the current Wales U17s squad are Ryan Astley (C) , Michael Ellery , CB I think, Edward Jones , 3 for Wales, and Rhys Hughes. I've no idea if they're any good and Wales tend to be weak at these levels and play people up an age as I think they are u 16 qualified , though Internationals have 1st Jan cut off so may not be.

On a similar theme Nathan Broadhead is with Wales u 21 s..
