Everton Youth Teams Thread

Anthony Gordon seems to have something about him, aside from the obvious goals yesterday. I've heard a few say he has great ability to beat several and always has his head up
I couldn't have been more impressed in Gordon in that tournament the under 18s won in the summer. Looks to have carried that form into the start of the season judging by his 4 goals. As some have alluded to, a call up to the under 23s should be the next step up for the player.

Everton's u-23s hoping for signings before transfer deadline day

Everton’s under-23s are expected to chase targets on transfer deadline day as they look to bolster their revamped squad.

The Blues’ second string have made a clutch of signings this summer, including Lewis Gibson and Josh Bowler, while members of their Premier League 2 title winning group have been sent out on loan.

Coach David Unsworth, who has also signed Boris Mathis and Nathangelo Markelo, expects more players to seal loan moves to the Football League and so says his squad may need bolstering before tomorrow night’s 11pm cut off.

“I think we need one or two more,” Unsworth said.

“The amount of players we’ve allowed to go on loan is brilliant - that’s what we want, we want them to experience the challenge.

“And so to get seven players in the Championship - potentially a couple more - they need to be replaced and we’ll look at what we’ve got underneath that and maybe we’ll bring in one or two more to the group, just to bolster the squad.

Hope Kenny gets a loan move so he can show he is ready. Should of been given a chance at start of the season, instead he picked Martina.

Looked really good in the highlights
Nathan Broadhead is a bit of an enigma for me. I raved on here about his hat trick for Wales u19' last November yet he rarely played for our U23s, and I respect Unsy's judgement as he sees him every day . Every time I've seen him though he produces a bit of class. Also playing in that Wales game was Ben Woodburn of the RS who scored two and looked very classy and the Welsh number 5 was Ampadu, the 16 year old playing for Chelsea at 5 against the U23s last Friday - he of the hair. Compared to Broadhead, both Woodburn and Ampadu have been called up to train with the full squad, though that's partly good man management as both are dual qualified with England also sniffing.

Interesting that Grant keeps going out on loan. I'd think he's at the point where he either starts making the bench for the 1st team or he moves on for regular first team football elsewhere. He's 22 now.
He's never making the bench lol.
The likes of him Garbutt, jones, Hennen, Byrne. Should be shown the door. Clogging up the under 23's. And stopping the progress of the next group coming through.

Dennis Adeniran from Fulham. Strange one for me. Not sure why he would swap a place in a Championship side fighting for promotion for U23 football?

As promised a little bit on Anthony Gordon. I hadn't heard anything about him. Of the lads coming up Zuk was highly thought of but looks a little lad. Collins has been very impressed and I like him a lot. Reminds me a lot of Foulds but a better player at a year younger than him. Ellis Simms came with a big reputation and is a great purchase (United really wanted this lad) and despite him scoring lots of goals I am underwhelmed by him currently. He looks a lad who will struggle to make an impact in open age football.

Gordon seems the sort of player who could excel not just in boys football but in mens football as well. He has great spacial awareness, speed, dribbling ability and technique as well as an eye for a goal. Looks like a lad who would play well with better players and will be really interesting if he can force his was into our under 23's. We've done the right thing as well with the 23's. It is a proper team now, one of the best in the division and you have to be a seriously talented under 18 to get a look in, which is how it should be.

When you watched Dowell, he was slight lad but very clever. Evans you could see his physical prowess but probably lacked Dowells brain. Gordon has a bit of both, not as strong as either in each area but a combination of both, so well worth keeping a look at him.
