England U19s v Holland live on Eurosport 2 now. Wasn't advertised earlier in the week so surprised to see it on now. 0-0 approaching half time. Holland beat Germany 4-1 in opening game but sounds like it's been all England up until now.

A two year extension suggests a degree of faith in him. One advantage of the Europa leagues early start is that it enables Koeman to look at Robinson/Connolly early and consider if between them they can cover Oviedo 's role of providing LB cover, whether they need loan experience . Two years ago Robinson made a favourable impression in pre season only to suffer an injury later on, but had a good season last time .

...he certainly looks the part. A big indication will be whether we bring in another LB in this window. If we don't there has to be a chance that Robinson will be the next cab on the rank.

I've mused on this topic before, but I'm at loggerheads with myself on the kids. On the one hand, I selfishly want them all to stay as long as possible and be given every opportunity to break into the first team.

On the other hand, I'm more and more convinced that's not really in their long term career best interest. For every Tom Davies, there's a dozen Ryan Ledson's that would probably be better served going to League 2, 1, or the Championship and playing every week.

Dele Ali, John Stones, Mason Holgate, and many others were better served playing football at 16 against men whose mortgages and ability to provide for their family were on the line every week.

But I don't want Walsh, or Dowell or others to leave because I want them to be Tom Davies.

Am I alone in this bi-polar disorder? lol

Just read somewhere that we have done the deal with QPR for Josh Bowler. 1.5m rising to 4m. We are having a proper go with the academy lads too by the looks of it.

Who do we think will be the next name to come through the academy. Who's the name that people are taking about? Tbf i was suprised about tom davies i had not heard that much about him until last season. It would be nice to get a couple of strikers and wingers coming through, we just seem to produce central midfielders

It's confirmed that Anton Donkor is back with us on loan , this time until the 2nd of January . I think at £1.5 mill he was worth a punt to buy him , presumably the 2nd Jan date means we will have to make up our mind by then re purchasing him or not. He'll be a useful addition and someone with the potential to progress, so will be good to see more of him and get a proper picture of his ability .

I'm sure you're not alone mate. It's a big dilemma for the club too. That age period 16/19 is crucial in the development of players.

I've advocated trying to get an arrangement with one of the EFL clubs maybe in League 1 where our better prospects can go on loan for periods. The new loan rules brought in last season make that more difficult though.

Some players suit different clubs in a better or worse way, donkors abilities suit koeman and unsworth / evertons style more than Wolfsburgs.

I suspect we will keep him fit until January, if he keeps up his good form we will sign him permanently then.

He's probably getting a better football education here than he would in their reserves, and he's not quite ready for the first team.

....strikers have a different skill set, it's why those at the top of the game are a rarity and also why they cost more money.
