Everton: we look an unhappy camp

Dead wood you say

Williams,Coleman,Baines,Jags,McCarthy,Gana,Del,Kev,Lukaku,Barkley,Barry,Bolasie

Decent players wouldn't you agree?

Why can't he get that group performing?
Williams and Gana are two of the very few bright spots in our team. They were brought in by Koeman. Bolasie the only winger on our books, although frustrating at times who has shown anything this season. Again brought in by Koeman.

Kev hasn't shown anything for the last year and a half or so. Thought that was solely down to Martinez at first, but hasn't taken his chances under Koeman either this season. Del, far too inconsistent for my liking. Needs to step it up very soon or he'll never make it at top level, no matter who his manager is.

Barry is playing well no matter who the manager is. Barkley, well I'm sorry, but I'm getting less and less convinced about whether he'll make it at Everton. Koeman the only manager thus far who's not afraid to criticise him for that.

As for Jags, I like him, he's been great for us, but maybe it's time for him to have a new role within the squad. As an understudy and keep as club captain. Koeman's only been here a few months and inherited a squad that might look very decent on paper but doesn't show that on the field. Koeman's talking about a three year process. If he really believed his squad was that good as some want us to believe, there wouldn't be a point in doing that, would there?

Also to answer your question @Zatara

They'll play openly S'ton. We stand a decent chance if our forwards are playing well and score on the break. Still, they are going to be tough.

VVD will win everything in the air leaving our long ball to Bolasie who may or may not be dreadful again.

We are not talking about winning the CL here, I am talking about getting his team to perform to some sort of decent standard

The fact that he can't should set of alarm bells

Williams is a good player but will be 33 at the start of next season. At the moment he's looking like a bargain but give it 2 seasons and we need a replacement.

Gana for me is the one class signing weve made (thanks to steve walsh).

If were looking at players who would be attractive to whats perceived as top 4 quality then thats Williams, Gana, Lukaku and when on form Deulofeu and Barkley...

The rest have not shown anything but seem to be guaranteed places.

Other than the signings made in the summer what exactly has koeman done to improve our players and also our style of play?

Not talking about winning the CL here either. Getting in there would be an enormous achievement and totally unrealistic with this squad. Getting into Europe this season with this squad would be considered a tremendous result by me. At least two more trannsfer windows for me before I start to judge our manager here.

...there's another thread on that subject. It might be easier to ask if any of the current crop will get a game when the squad is re-built.

Pretty much this...i think we will see a change to bigger lads who run around alot.

No ones beating the door down to replace the out of form players. Drop any players and its only replacing them with the same level of player and that's why the summer transfer window was an absolute disgrace

Well at least they look a bit fitter this season. For the rest I can only say not too much by the looks of it. Lukaku looks a lot sharper this season though. It's not his squad yet, so that's why I keep saying at least two more windows before I start judging.

I guess there is only so many times and so many ways we can say we need a complete overhaul.

3 signings in January as a minimum and another 6 or so in the summer. That's the start.

Apart from a small few, I have zero faith in this group of players, and I don't think Koeman will be able to get anything out of them.

A few decent first-team signings in January and the mood will be more positive.

Somehow we have to stumble our way through till then.

What we are seeing at present is the culmination of years of under-investment and more recently, poor signings by Martinez, and the botched summer window.

We could always rely on effort and commitment to get us through but not so anymore.

I expect more of a disinterested and apathetic camp than an unhappy one currently.

Good thing is the amount of new personnel off the pitch this year who hopefully aren't blinkered by the small club mentality of old (RK please be careful in future).

Hope springs eternal.
