Everton: we look an unhappy camp

2015/16 - after 12 games = 17points
2016/17 - after 12 games = 19points

Cause for concern? No.

We're picking up more points this year than last, whilst playing seemingly pish football.

Allow Koeman time to ship out the rot in this team and build his own. He's not stupid, been in the game long enough to understand how it works. This aint a period of transition, it's a complete transformation.

However, if again, we fail to back him in the transfer market and end up buying 3rd or 4th or 5th choice players then we deserve everything we get.

How exactly have you come to the conclusion that being just 2 points better off than we were in a season in which we finished in the bottom half and sacked our manager for underperforming is not cause for concern?

If we're at panic stations already then what stage are the 13 teams below us at?

Get a grip.

In Koeman I trust, the issue is largely we failed to address the dross in the squad over the summer, alongside having 3-4 players in the starting 11 who are clearly not good enough.

Jagielka
Steklenburg
Mirallas
Baines

2 of those are past it, the other should never have been a number 1 option and Mirallas seems to no longer be the same player he was.

Add in the likes of Kone, Cleverly, Valencia, Niasse and Gibson who are clearly gash we really need to spend in January.

A minimum of 3 players is required, a LM, CB and back up forward although another GK I would hope we would bring in, although I can't see us bringing one in til the summer.

Who said anything about panic stations?! I was just pointing out that the stat you've used to suggest things aren't that bad probably wasn't a great choice. When I started reading your post I assumed the point of it was to say we hadn't improved, you know, seeing as that's what it actually shows and everything.

So are you suggesting we are playing poor, boring football because 2 of our back 4 are getting on and a winger who is in and out of the squad isn't that great

I think it shows a big improvement. We've got more points than we had at the same point last year, when we were supposedly playing brilliant football.

It's essentially the same squad quality wise, bar maybe Gueye, and we're doing better. Everyone was expecting a quick fix but truth be told, we're sitting 7th now and that is absolutely the best we can hope for this season.

After these next 5 games, All rounded off by the Derby, Panic will well and truly set in within the squad and management

Koeman has had poor spells throughout his career and rarely turns it around

Who's said that, I think we all know last season was a horror show

I take your point about the types of uneven ability we have in this team. However, I must return to the point already made that in the first five games of this season the very same players looked very much up for the new level of intensity required to make sense of Koeman's approach to football. I'd actually say that could easily have been a perfect first five game start because the endeavour against Spurs deserved more than a point.

Here's the thing though: it's a concern that the team are now looking like an outfit only just introduced to the intensity Koeman prefers. They should at this stage be more comfortable with it rather than less so. It's as if they've decided that, 'well, we can ease our way into games and get Lukaku or Bolasie clear to score and dictate from that point'. It's gone backward, lost its way. And most onlookers seem to be comforting themselves with some notion that we'll simply sell all the shirkers and get players in who can follow the instructions to a tee. That is fantasy Island stuff for me. We're not at that place as a club, despite what the owner's cheer-leaders tell you.

Koeman needs to introduce Davies at a minimum. He needs to bench until he's sold Jagielka. He needs to stop ballsing about with pacifying Everton's old guard and giving them a status they dont deserve. And he needs to shut his grid in public criticising these players and do it where it should be done: Finch Farm.

Loved that programme 'de plane, de plane'.

Ahem, sort it out Mr Koeman.

Klopps Liverpool were boring last season and at times looked no different to Rodgers Liverpool. A season on with his own signings and time with the squad/time to get them playing his high pressing game they look very good.

We need to give Koeman time and Moshiri needs to dig into his pockets. This season has always been a transition but sadly we only improved 2 areas of the first team this season (Gueye & Bolasie) with Williams a stop gap signing due to age. Next summer we ideally need about 4-5 players coming in with another 2-3 coming in this January.

Same Liverpool that reached two cup finals?

You do realise that Klopp has only signed 4 players, Koemans already brought in the same amount

All I keep seeing is we need to sign 6-7 players, We need to move on all the dead wood before anything improves

Baffling that we need to overhaul half the first team to see Koeman produce some decent football

THIS.

Look at the squads of the teams above us. They're so much better.

We're mixing with similar company in the league.
