Can't deny the effort he puts in, but you can still understand why managers don't want him in the team, his footballing skills are very low.

Once we scored the atmosphere was brilliant and helped to lift the team and then the team lifted the crowd. Rooney was very poor again, Sigudsson has lost his mojo, but did put in a couple of fabulous crosses, he'll come good though, but I think "R Wayne" is a busted flush. Calvert-Lewin made a massive difference when he came on, good to see him score too. Good for Baines back on pens.

Great write-up. COYB!

A word for Unsworth: OK four games, one win. But given our away record at Chelsea (cup), and reality of our Europa chances (out), then his record in the two prem games is 50/50.

Prem survival has to be our goal. The reality of how disorganized this team has become I think is clear now.

Watford are decent this time out, and this is a great win. We've rode our luck too, admittedly. But well done DU. Everton are trying to play on the front foot, you've brought Lennon, Beningame and others back to 1st team football ( with positive impact ).

The lights are back on : )

Niasse.

But so depressing that here we all are ,week after week, discussing half our under 23 team (who are now basically our first team) and niasse as striker. Who would have thought we would be doing that after 150m spent in summer and in a year when we were supposed to be having a shot at top 4!!!

This the most depressing season I have have experienced.:coffee:

Conversely mate, if the blooding of some many of the U23s into the first team is instrumental in us now achieving a semi-respectable finish in the table, how well will that bode for the future as they mature ??

Just about anybody can do well in a winning team, the true test of character and desire is overcoming adversity and right now that's what the likes of Pickford, Kenny, Keane, DCL, Lookman, Davies, Baningime, Vlasic and even Niasse are doing... overcoming adversity.

All of these lads are young with time a-plenty to develop into very good players, and with the likes of Dowell, Pennington and the others out on loan to return, plus Onyekuru to come in, the future actually looks bright.

We've still to see what Klaassen and Ramirez can truly contribute, and they're still young too.

The next three signing are key to the club... a decent/top striker, a decent/top centre back and a decent/top left back... three good signings and we'll be good to go for next season.

COYB !!!

Niasse is our new Stracqualursi. Though Calvert- Lewin changed the game when he came on gave us more bite up top and his energy was infectious. Thought the seasoned pros Jags, Baines and Rooney were/are symptomatic of our problems - they didn't seemed bothered. And it was the young bucks that got the game by the scruff of the neck and forged our victory.

Oumar all day. Great performance and skill? No. But for sheer effort, never say die attitude, and pure enthusiasm, which for a man who couldn't even get a locker, was infectious.
Even his goal, he was getting that no matter what.
Some of the so called big names could do with a bit of Oumar's determination.

Great review @AndyC and isn't it a nice change to go into work on a Monday with our heads held high?

For me, despite holding his nerve to despatch a wonderful penalty by Baines, and good cameos from Lennon and Calvert-Lewin my MotM has to be Niasse. Never gave up, his effort although not the most skilful never seems to be less than 100%...and a goal which began our comeback that owed everything to sheer determination the likes of which over half our squad could do well to learn from...we have a proper cult hero in the making here.

First time at goodison this season (great to be back) and what a game to be at!

Said in the match thread Lookman for me,changed the way the game was going, drove us forward and stopped the Watford fullbacks attacking, yes he loses the ball now and then, yes he plays the wrong ball once or twice but he got us on the front foot and Watford on their backfoot

Can't disagree with this, went for lookman too, drove us forward and and gave the team some belief that we could actually score. Niasse, like many have said just never stops, we will love him for that and he will play a massive part this season, what an attitude, outstanding, if technically lacking.

Kenny deserves a mention too, did very well I thought. COYB
Unsworth with his bold changes was the man of the match, but there is no option for him so it has to be the Mighty Niasse. What a pro, got his head down and got on with the job. #Niasseforpresident
Can't agree with this mate: it was Unsworth's starting line-up which put us in that position. Yet again, no wingers and Rooney in the starting 11 is a disaster. Time and again, especially at Goodison, when we play with pace and width we can threaten any team. Unsworth's continual Koeman-like approach has torpedoed his chances of getting the job full-time. Shame really, as he is a top Blue.

I think Jags, Baines and, particularly, Rooney are a big part of the problem but I think the point you make in bold above is unfair. All of them are past it, their stamina, reflexes, pace has declined considerably but a lack of effort is not their problem. Now, if you were talking about Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson etc.. then we have a problem with desire.

I may be a bit harsh about not seeming 'bothered' but their body language has been appalling and has affected those around them. 'Effort' is wanting to roll your sleeves and give it a go. Until the subs, I saw nothing yesterday that indicated that Jags, Baines and Rooney had any desire to want to roll up their sleeves and give it a go and attempt to rally those around them. In fact they shirked their responsibilities as seasoned pros.

There was one instance when Gueye gave a short pass to Rooney and he just flicked it away to a Watford player. Baines was full of his 'nonchalant' self aimlessly at times wandering around and never even attempting to close down the crosses (a problem his whole career). And as far as Jags goes - a great servant of our club - he needs the armband taken off him so he can concentrate on his and Keane's games.

Completely disagree about Sigurdsson he did put himself about and their was a desire to roll up his sleeves and give it a go. But being shoved from pillar to post has not helped get the best out of him and it was yesterday. Scheiderlin, - I thgought it was a good signing but the other night in Lyon his sending off - seemed deliberate to me- showed him up and is surplus to requirements now that the young lad Baningime has shown us what he can do.

Maybe, but it was the players that put us in that position not him. We have no way of knowing why he named the team he did, (maybe he wanted some experience to help guide some of the youngsters or Rooney and Sigy had been excelled in training) but sticking on the two wide fast players made a huge difference, if he had made those changes and we lost then he would have got crucified! But lets also remember hes had 4 games with an unbalanced, losing team against not easy opponents. I think he is working wonders, but it doesn't matter what i think. haha

This is exactly why our next manager has to be somebody who can exploit this and get the best out of our young players. I'm convinced there's enough quality there to get us clear of trouble this year and then improve going forward. Remember we still have the likes of Barkley, Coleman and Bolasie to come back too plus I'm certain we'll be going after a new striker in January. If we bring in somebody like Allardyce now, somebody who'll go safety first and play the more experienced players (who I believe are the ones who are actually letting us down this season), then it's a massive opportunity lost IMO and will take us back to the early Moyes days.
