Where is the Tom Cleverley option?
In fairness, if I was offered 5M by a far east syndicate to miss....I might be tempted as well.

...Watford were a better side than us today but we hung in there and rode our luck. The lack of conventional wide players is as much about defending as attacking. There’s acres of space in front of our full backs for the opposition to exploit, they always have a man over as with Watfords first goal.

The substitutions made a difference. Sigurdsson is very disappointing and Rooney just doesn’t have the legs against more athletic players. DCL, Lookman and Lennon came on and contributed to the win. We looked better with two conventional wingers.

Cleverley, though.
We are just a really poor Man City lol

A REALLY poor Man City.

But joking aside that's the same way to beat them. Balls into the channels.

For a player with "no ability" Prince Oumar is doing remarkably well.
Just don't get this constantly churned out line that he has "zero ability".....he clearly has some ability, maybe not as much as we'd like but he definitely has some, and he makes up for what he lacks technically with the equally important attributes of desire, determination, energy, strength, commitment, confidence, character, willingness....the list is endless. Not many in our squad have more than one or two of those attributes.

I think Jags, Baines and, particularly, Rooney are a big part of the problem but I think the point you make in bold above is unfair. All of them are past it, their stamina, reflexes, pace has declined considerably but a lack of effort is not their problem. Now, if you were talking about Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson etc.. then we have a problem with desire.
I think Sigurdsson is trying.

He just looks shell shocked at the moment. The fans hate him. The team is playing badly. Ridiculous price tag. Manager who bought him is gone. Not sure I can blame him.

He's not worth 45 m but as a No 10 or even an 8 with two wingers either side and striker to feed he could more than do a job for us.

The fans don't hate him , mate !

He does drift out of games for lengthy periods but I do agree that we didn't/don't seem to have a clue how to use him which is why £45m is pyar madness!

I made a joke earlier that we are just a poor Man City.

I think ultimately he wanted to play a similar way which deserves lols because our defence had other ideas (HOOF).

Giroud
Sigurdsson Klassen Rooney Bolasie
Schneiderlin
Baines Williams Keane Coleman
Pickford

Unfortunately no one actually watched Sigurdsson to realise although he may have lined up on the left he isn't a left sided winger and Baines is finished and needs protection.

Koeman kept going on about how the Attacking midfielders had to be more productive and I suspect they were bought mainly on stats because just looking at the team you would know it wouldn't work.

That's why the board, Walsh, Kenwright or whoever was in charge of the summer transfer fiasco need yanking as well as Koeman. Koeman was an intractable, abrasive and part-time manager but to spend £70m and over £300k a week in wages on Sigurdsson, Klaasen and Rooney without buying a striker (I would mention the defence but we did at least buy a centre half) was craven mismanagement and set the scene for this car crash of a season. Our scouting network, that we keep hearing about, was either badly underutilised or is a load of old cobblers. Koeman has to take his share of the blame for the summer purchases (as well as all of the blame for tactics and man management) but he wasn't alone and the club needs to have a long hard look at itself.

Our scouting department does well when scouting kids although I heard a rumour that we turned down Delle Ali so maybe not.

I think the scouting is fine (Dele Ali turned us down not the other way around). It's the executive branch that fails us on transfers imo.
