This was long before the days of the Etihad. It was at the same ground that was wrecked after a semi final between two clubs from your City a few years earlier.
But no, it couldn't be true. Everton fans are all innocent, welcoming saints who've never been involved in any crowd trouble or anti social behaviour since the start of time. The people's club, init.
I'd ignore a lot of the knee jerk comments about last night. From the sounds of things, a minority of your support let your fanbase down but that can happen in big away followings. We are no different and anyone claiming otherwise is either deluded or a liar.
I've been at games where a minority of our own fans have tarnished the name of our away support too. Doesn't mean it's reflective of us all.
Blackburn away the other year there was a video of some of our younger lot singing about Sturridge being a N*****. At Kings Cross some Evertonians caused some trouble but the Social Media rumours sounded like they got out of hand with women and children stories. For the record, I didn't see any of it last night, so not saying what did or didn't happen, but even if one or two spat at women (which is of course disgraceful and inexcusable), 1 out of 4,800 isn't a cause to judge the whole away support. We will have fans who let us down in the return leg.
Every club has their good and bad fans.
City's tradiational fanbase is very similar to ours. As you said yourself though, you seem to have picked up more similar out of town supporters with no connection to the club that you used to hate your neighbours for, as we do ours.
