Overall though, i can see a strategy: overlapping international full backs, strong no nonsence centre halfs, balance on the wings, 20 goal a season striker up front, guile in the centre (when arteta is back).

*Feels justified in his pro Davey stance.

I don't often post, but had to after the match today.

Great performance in the first half. Yes, I know AEK weren't up to much on the night. But there is more than enough evidence to show that they are basically a very good side, full of skilful Argentinians, Brazilians etc. Perhaps some credit should be given to the Everton team for making them look so ordinary.

Of the Everton starters, all played at least adequately, and some were outstanding. Anyone who says any player was "deffo" MOM is IMHO being extremely biased or short-sighted. At least five players would have a shout at it, and I, for one, can't decide between them.

It would be great to see some of this quality in the EPL performances.

Great post mate!(y)

Well that was that.

I had no idea we would get four without reply, not complaining just unexpected. I did like the Pienaar goal from long distance, people at the game would of enjoyed it more methinks. The new Russian went off early in the second half, Yakubu had a run out, and I can't understand why Louis had to go, there was nothing nefarious about the challenge, those two extra officials were obviously wasted unless they were there to appraise the players on show. :dodgy:

Understand the stadium was only two thirds full, the Greeks who turned up made a noise, behaved quite oddly at times, and there was a mass of yellow in with the blues who showed up. Got a bit revenge over Greek sides after the '71 QF exit, but thats water under the bridge now, did really well first half, went off the boil in the 2nd, but a healthy winning margin and this will breath new life into the premiership bread and butter or at least thats what I'm hoping.

Referee did a fairly adequate job but that Saha decision was just wrong, give me that AEK player and I'll give him something to complain about or a legitimate injury. :@
