Understand the stadium was only two thirds full, the Greeks who turned up made a noise, behaved quite oddly at times, and there was a mass of yellow in with the blues who showed up. Got a bit revenge over Greek sides after the '71 QF exit, but thats water under the bridge now, did really well first half, went off the boil in the 2nd, but a healthy winning margin and this will breath new life into the premiership bread and butter or at least thats what I'm hoping.

Not too be an ass, but we demolished Larissa in our last meaningful Euro adventure, and they are just as Greek as AEK.

Composed and Controlled we were tonight.

Cannot stand Osman, surely there must be a natural wide man as a free agent out there who we can get in? Dutch guy maybe?

Shame I couldn't reply to this report as Rory Smith saw nothing wrong with the kick to Distin's groin and no benefit to having the AARs when not having one by AEK's goal in the first half would probably have meant a goal kick rather than the corner that led to the first goal.

Mind you, there was that moment of confusion when it appeared the ref was getting so many different voices in his ear he ended up giving a drop ball, and also the non-penalty in the second half when Baines was clearly tripped right in front of the AAR.

The only real criticism about the AARs though is they ought to carry a flag because it's better to get the ref's attention with a flag wave rather than just another voice in his ear and, frankly, they just don't look right without one!

Good all round performance against a very lightwieght side. Hat's off to AEK fans - you made a racket all night and had real passion for your team even when 3-0 down - real fans.

I think I want to have Jack Rodwell's babies....should I talk to someone about it?

Game of two halves. The first half we were superb. I wonder in that how significant is that Hibbert, Neville and Osman were not playing.

Now for the second half. Osman is on and merely confirms what I have been saying for years now, utter [Poor language removed]. Hardly ever tried to link up with Gosling or cover for him. Get rid of the cnut. As for Jo okay he scored but I bet 90% of the people on this forum could have popped that in. I did not see Jo do anything that was commendable or noteworthy. Absolute crap player IMO. Moyes plays him from the outset in games which in our prem games could explain our lack of scoring with him as the lone striker. Jo is not a goal scorer, to call him a striker belittles the ability of real strikers. Saha was sent off quite rightly no matter what Moyes said. The sheer fact is no matter how much the provocation you do not retaliate. Saha was stupid in the extreme as was Cahill's two footed lunge which earned him a yelow, desrvedly. When are our players going to learn?

For me MOM was Rodwell.

Regarding Louis Saha's sending off;

Stan Collymore said after the game that we'd lose Saha for 2-3 games but Danny said earlier in this thread that he would only miss the next match (against Bate). So I had a look at the UEFA rules and regulations for the Europa League and it says...

22.01 As a rule, a player who is sent off the field of play is suspended for the next match in a UEFA club competition. The Control and Disciplinary Body is entitled to augment this punishment. For serious offences the punishment can be extended to all UEFA competition categories.

So until we hear otherwise it is indeed only a one match ban.

Howard - 6 - Didnt have much to do, but did it well, shouted at the players, always nice to see.
Gosling - 6- Again not much to do, but played decent enough.
Baines - 9 - Wonderful at times
Yobo - 9 - Kung Fo Joey, as I called him last night, kept doing these Karate kicks, superb tho.
Distin - 8 - Grabbed a goal and just got overshadowed by Joey.
Bilyaletdinov - 10 - Set Pieces, simple passing, long passing, a star is born.
Pienaar - 9 - Great goal, super player, sign him up NOW
Rodwell - 9 - 18 my arse, gets better every week.
Fellaini - 8 - Great showing from mophead
Cahill - 6 - Not his best game, chased a lot, but didnt really get into the game.
Jo - 6 - Not great.

Osman - 7 - Didnt play that badly when came on, few decent things, few bad things.
Yakubu - 7 - Badly needs sharpness, will come with games, few little shakes of his booty, so good having him back.
Saha -4 - Missed a sitter from 5 yards and got sent off for very little, otherwise average.

Interesting to see Pienaar moving into the middle, shame Bilyaletdinov's injury didn't give a proper chance in the role. Good to see Moyes' is considering it though.

He looked brilliant on the right to be fair, surprised me a bit. He's alot stronger now than when he first joined us.
