There is something very amiss about this season so far. I cant put my finger on it, but its like the entire team forgot everything about what made them so boss last year(mostly). I cant think of 1 player that is better this year than last and i can say the same about the manager as well.
I think it's the injuries to key players like Coleman, Stones, Barkley and Mirallas, along with the rotation that Martinez is trying to keep players fresh. We also had a bunch come back late from the WC.

Back from the game

Baines had a shocker. Barkley was good but had no support. Swansea were effective at getting 2 or 3 ganging up on players. Alcaraz's injury looked bad
.
McGeady was the best player - surprised to see him taken off. Pienaar was poor. Barry filled in as an effective centre back. Besic was impressive

Unfortunatley Swansea had a really really good defensive style - even if we were on top of our game (which we weren't - so many sloppy passes) they deserve a lot of credit

I feel if we'd played that in August we'd have lost. A point is a point. Onwards and upwards.
I stopped reading at ' barkley was good '.

Good?? He was dire and probably our worst player. Infact he was our worst player. He did nothing but lose the ball, over run when being direct, passing to opposition. one shot went for a throwing... another attempted cross, he kicked oxygen only for his trailing leg to knock it out.

He was absolutely dire.

Did you get the names mixed up here?

Thought Barkley was extremely poor by his standards and Leighton did well in the first half in particular.

Whoever qualifies for the Champions League this season, I absolutely guarantee, nailed on, that they will do so by finishing with less points than we had last season. That would be the most Everton thing in the world.
agree 100%...I reckon 70 points will do it this year. Chelsea and Southampton and City and Arsenal will get there (imo)

So he likes to have a few, he's young he likes to party he will get it out of his system. Sure he probably had a pint of vodka before Swansea but Martinez will have him down to just an eye opener or two.

They should of be down to 9. Bony should of been off for that challenge on Barkley. How that was play on ill never know. Baines had an off night with boot. Crosses, corners and free kicks. We seemed lost in the final third. Everyone seemed to be scared to have a shot.

pretty convinced Southampton will be in the mix...and possibly as high as third.
A possibility i grant you, but whatever the outcome at the end of the season. i will be on the floor with an evacuation the bladder and sore ribs if the Saints finish above that shower...

Imagine the fume FFS!!!

Lots of teams are going to come to Goodison and defend this year, everton have shown themselves susceptible to the quick counter. We need to learn how to break down packed defences and slow sideways and backwards passing allows them to get set into position. Play 2 up front at home and move the ball forward and quicker pleaseeeee. It seems RM has a set team shape, 1 up, 2 holding etc. mix it up people have worked us out.

Maybe I was exaggerating - but Baines' delivery was poor especially from corners. Barkley started to slow down especially after the 40 minute mark but he's making those runs from midfield and linking up defence and midfield in a way that we really missed in his absence and with Mirallas out.

I think our tactics have a bit to do with it. We seem content to keep possession over the will to attack old all primers hip style. Do we have players then like barca who can split teams with movement and ability when they decide the time is right to attack. We probally don't. This looked like what was the problem yesterday. Goodison goes dead quite. Mourino was complaining the same at chelsea yesterday. Players play the possession game and we seem to get bit lost once we in final 3rd. Perfect away tactics to me but we need to change something at home. Is that 1 win in last 5 at home?

I actually forgot they were down to 10 men. 20 minutes for us to kick on against 10 men. When you forget that they received a red card in the game, it pretty much sums it up.

We played exactly the same way and didnt change a thing; against 11 or 10 men. Same tactics and same way of playing.
