Very frustrating game. Played some nice stuff but we were so easy to contain from a Swansea Pov. They played us well, but they weren't really a threat. The problem is that we weren't either. McGeady should've been left on - he was offering us an outlet on the right and a bit of pace. Barkley and Naismith unfortunately can't play together - as it means one of them ends up stuck out wide.

Howard - 6 - didn't have much to do
Coleman - 6 - defended well but again couldn't get forward as much
Jagielka - 6 - solid again
Barry - 6 - ok but a bit sloppy at times (playing at CB didn't help)
Baines - 6 - same as ever but really bad from corners
McCarthy - 7 - probably our best player.
Besic - 6 - he's very composed but couldn't impose himself
McGeady - 6 - frustrating at times but have us width and pace
Naismith - 5 - Poor tbh, was disappointed In him last week and same again today.
Barkley - 6 - out of position but still pretty ineffective. Some bright moments
Eto'o - 6 - Didn't really have any service

Lukaku - 5 - should've scored at the end but other than that didn't have much chance to get into it
Pienaar - 5 - sloppy when he came on
Alcaraz - 6 - was looking decent. Shame he got injured as it knocked our shape

Martinez - 6

Classic sausage roll of the early eighties is exactly the answer I had in mind. I'm not even messing.

a.k.a the town dummy, as many lids we're rolled around the city centre with one stuck in their grid to stop them from kicking off. Including I.

when school dinners became untouchable, it was either a bag of sweaty chips or a Sayers sausage roll for under 2 quid.
And then still have enough for a couple of goes on Asteroids

Thought Geads had a good game, we need need a winger to hit form so hopefully he can kick on. Besic looks a player, and mcCarthy looking more of a leader now, really drove on in the 2nd half. I still like having Pienaar in the team, that little turn before pulling it back for Baines was class, the sort of thing that can lead to goals against well drilled outfits like Swansea. Think maybe Martinez needs to chill a little bit with his rotation of players, we pretty much need Lukaku on the pitch as neither Nais nor etoo look like they enjoy leading the line, and both benefit from his presence

We seem to never be able to take advantage of other teams slip ups I e Liverpool. We coudnt break Swansea down they will be delighted with a point. Its a frustrating day simple as.

Sammy was outstanding, Coleman fair, Aiden still has to judge a pass a bit better instead of head down and run.. Besic did ok and looked more settled. Problem for us was we were looking for inspiration all the time from Ross but, in the absence of Pienaar, Osman, Mirallas etc it's a big ask for one so young - so all the decent approach play fell on the vine - I think Nais had a poor game and we weren't strong enough in both the way we took the game to Swansea (all too often down the wings and little option in the central positions) - also Swansea were quick to put 2 banks of players behind the ball and close us down effectively. A little disappointing we didn't test the keeper more but overall a little bit more good than bad.

Neither team deserved to win.
Swansea were comfortable in the second half, even with a man down.

We did well to keep the ball but looked blunt in the final third. Over-elaborate maybe, I don´t know. Few more players taking on shots. would be good. It´s obvious we miss the directness of Mirallas.

We need Barkley and Lukaku playing together me thinks.
