Very frustrating game. Played some nice stuff but we were so easy to contain from a Swansea Pov. They played us well, but they weren't really a threat. The problem is that we weren't either. McGeady should've been left on - he was offering us an outlet on the right and a bit of pace. Barkley and Naismith unfortunately can't play together - as it means one of them ends up stuck out wide.
Howard - 6 - didn't have much to do
Coleman - 6 - defended well but again couldn't get forward as much
Jagielka - 6 - solid again
Barry - 6 - ok but a bit sloppy at times (playing at CB didn't help)
Baines - 6 - same as ever but really bad from corners
McCarthy - 7 - probably our best player.
Besic - 6 - he's very composed but couldn't impose himself
McGeady - 6 - frustrating at times but have us width and pace
Naismith - 5 - Poor tbh, was disappointed In him last week and same again today.
Barkley - 6 - out of position but still pretty ineffective. Some bright moments
Eto'o - 6 - Didn't really have any service
Lukaku - 5 - should've scored at the end but other than that didn't have much chance to get into it
Pienaar - 5 - sloppy when he came on
Alcaraz - 6 - was looking decent. Shame he got injured as it knocked our shape
Martinez - 6
Didn't test their keeper all second half. Grim.
You could see in the first half something needed to change and I would have took Naismith off for Lukaku, and put Barkley through the middle. Very frustrating.Didn't test their keeper all second half. Grim.
!Yep,Friend totally bottled that one IMHO as he knew he'd have to send him off,so he just waved play on.Thought Bony was immensely lucky to avoid a second yellow for that lunge at Barkley. He does look a great striker though, holds the ball up very well and of course carries a threat
